Carrera S OEM or HRE FF01 Wheels for Winter

Struggling to decide between a set of HRE FF01 (not the super expensive ones) and a Carrera S wheel package that my dealer has available. Both would have Michelin Alpin snows. The sets are roughly the same cost, with the HRE package being slightly more before taxes. Part of the additional cost comes from necessary spacers for the rear.

You can see the HRE wheel here - http://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/hre-flowform/ff01 I think it is a good-looking wheel

Feel a bit "eh" at running Carrera S wheels on a turbo, but they are OEM. They will be much easier to sell next season if I decide to go to a TurboS with CL wheels.

Thoughts?

Personally I think the HRE's would be a great look for the winter. Also, I think there are enough of us around in cold climates that would buy the HRE's should you sell.

Carrera S wheels on the TT. Eh...... (IMO)

Thinking Turbo S already!! Awesome

BTW - we met at Town motors when your beautiful TT came in.

HRE's hands down. You won't regret it. They suit the car perfect and I'd use them every winter if I were you. Why change?

Hey, Michael - I remember. Small world. I spend more time in that showroom than I care to admit. As for the S - we all need dreams.

Thanks for weighing in. I am torn here. I really like the look of the HREs, but I have 4 awesome 19 inch BBS wheels/tires from last year's winter with about 400 miles on them sitting in my garage. They were from my C2S. Lots of interest from outside of the area, but I do not feel like shipping.

I am already breaking traction in the TT, and the temp is still in the 60s. Going to need to switch over to winters within a month, I think.

Where/how are you marketing them for sale? I sold all my stuff my BMW/Porsche and others local. Usually within a few weeks. I agree shipping is a pain but between NJ, NY, CT you should be able to find a local buyer.

Normally I would say OE wheels will sell better, but HRE have such a great rep they will sell.

PS - I'm pretty close to taking home the Black Turbo S on the showroom floor

I just listed them on this site and RL in the classifieds. Maybe I will post them on Craigslist.

I sat in "your" car yesterday. Sweet.

Not going to get the Carerra S wheels. Going to see what the dealer wants for a turbo wheel package but will likely wind up with the HREs.

Don't forget to ask for discount from parts. They have room in those numbers.

I'd be willing to bet the OEMs would be more than the HRE Flow Forms in this case....

I'm certain that it will be more. But there is a price I am willing to pay to know that if I crack a wheel in a pothole, I've got 4 wheels in my garage just like the one I broke and can source a replacement easily. While I think I can get the HRE quickly, it won't be the next day. What is that price? Don't know. My dealer gives me great prices on parts, and they run winter wheel/tire specials. I'm going to pay them a visit tomorrow and see if they have prices yet on the 20 inch turbo wheels.
