My before an after results are significant and exceed the variability in car to car performance. I made pre and post measurements and they are substantially different. I have posted my vbox results on several threads. Anyway, to each his own .

The 'S' has 40 hp and more torque but is barely faster than the stock Turbo. Seriously, 0.1 sec to 60 mph is not worth the additional cost if you look at the additional hp alone. A tuned Turbo may have 40 hp more than a stock Turbo S, so what do you think the performance gain would be?

The 'S' becomes worth it if all of the 'S' options make sense to the buyer. In that regard you have to respect each buyer's decision as a personal choice. Frankly, a $160k car is a ton of money and the cost of owning one is only marginally less than a $190k car. If you paid cash then who cares, and if you financed it then the difference is less than $450/month.

I digress. I admire anyone in our group for trying to get more power out of their car (Turbo, Turbo S, whatever). I am just not seeing the significant gains as in the past.

Bigger turbos and/or even more hp is needed from the stock ones! The 997 Turbo guys already think neither a 991 Turbo or Turbo S is worth it on just hp alone.

I seriously doubt the non S is .01 seconds slower. The video (MT did?) doing the 50+ launches with LC repeatedly attained 2.6 seconds. Has anyone launched the Turbo and gotten 2.7 (+.01 secs)? I don't know, just asking. Other than the GT3 I think the packaged optioned Turbo S is a great buy for the $$.

My local Dealer thinks the ECU Flashing is snake oil. They told me with both turbos (997 and 991) that if I flash and "F'" things up I am on my own without warranty. So, no thanks.. Too much of an investment to have a catastrophic event. Thats why I purchased the S after much thought.

I don't think that CPU flashes (piggy-back or other wise) are "snake oil". I have an FVD chipped ECU on my 997.1 TT and it is everything the company says it is. Along with an improved exhaust system, it's the best mod I could ask for. Zoom zoom .... !

I think if you drive the car like a fool with mods and screw something up, well, you are screwed warranty-wise. But, I'm sure there are black boxes on the car that report over revving the motor and other such things modded or not. This could influence your warranty as well if Porsche pushed it.

My car is a DD and I do drive it hard. I may have over revved it a couple times inadvertently, but it was very short. However, I do know folks that track their cars very hard, launch them hard and do drive them at the limits. Sometimes the car will break ... other times it may stand up to these harsh treatments.

I think if you abuse a car in any fashion with or without mods, you are asking for negative feed back from Porsche. Look ... these are high performance cars. They are designed for some heavy lifting. But, some folks are just stupid and do things to the car that will have adverse outcomes.

Cabman your dealer is not tune friendly and idiot if they think the giac tune is snake oil. Other dealers who stand behind the tune have had very few problems such as Park Place or Porsche of Plano here in Dallas. The 997 and 991 have responded well. Go through threads from CPI, WRS and several others thread that show the facts which result in gains versus a stock 0-60, quarter mile, half mile and trap speeds.

Glad you are happy with you TTS. It's a good deal if you wanted PDCC, center locks, bermeister,PCBB and the addional. As a package it makes sense if you want those options. At this price point I'm not sure it's the determing factor for most in this forum. As for the 0-60 times and quarter mile times the car mags use favorable techniques such as roll outs to get those times, the TT vs TTS stocks times could be .1 0-60. If anyone is in Dallas with a stock TTS that wants to go for a run lets do it.
