Porsche Turbo Recall WE66
Porsche Turbo Recall WE66
Had the recall today replacing the throttle body tube. Apparently there were problems with the tube opening up at the ends during hard acceleration (per the Dealer) and I was notified of this recall.
The job seemed simple but of course it was not. Took 3 hours to disassemble the back and replace the tube. Some of that time was wait time due to the tremendous heat from my drive over.
This applies to most of the 2014 Turbos. Not sure about the 2015s.

My dealer performed this campaign on my car before it was delivered. So my engine was cold. They said it consisted of checking to see if the connection was tight and retightening it if it was not. They claimed it took 5 minutes on mine.
Guess some dealers like to do warranty work which helps pay the bills. The 2 parts were identical and I had to chuckle because it was a bit obvious what was going on. The car came back perfect.
My Dealer called me on Dec 27th to bring the car in for 2 recalls. One was the front bonnet latch had faulty welds and needed to be replaced and the throttle tube.
Took it in the next day and they did the hood latch recall in 4 minutes. Then they checked the throttlebody hose and BIG SURPRISE,, it looked loose. Part ordered that day and work done yesterday.
My dealer is great about calling customers for recall notices. Makes sense since its a money making venue.
All joking aside, some 991 hood latches have broken at the weld spot causing the bonnet to fly off the car at high speeds so that was a very necessary recall. Dealer read me the "how and why" for each recall.
Some Turbo drivers lost all boost with this defective hose. The two hoses looked identical but had different part numbers so I am glad the effort was put in to replace the old hose.

I had my TTS at the dealers last week for a PCM reprogram, as it was randomly turning on and off while I listened to CDs. They did the WE66 campaign on mine, and I didn't even know it until I got the receipt the emailed me. I was only there for an our or so, so I don't think they had to replace anything.
I cannot find this recall or TSB online anywhere. Does anyone know the reference #?
I want to have this fixed asap, but want to go to dealer with more info.
Thanks in advance.

Porsche sends a letter to you if there's a recall on your car. Only if you bought the car privately would you have to investigate a bit. Call PCNA if you didn't buy the car at a dealer & update your name to associated VIN.
These things happen once in a while. I just got a letter the other day for Porsche safety recall AE04 which is the upper part of lock on front lid, which will take the dealer ~ hour to replace apparently.

Your car, being a '15, was prolly built correctly on the line with the issue being known on the '14s, so no need for a recall.
