991 Turbo S Hybrid, when?
991 Turbo S Hybrid, when?
http://wot.motortrend.com/1405_porsc...e_hybrids.html
I have negotiated deals on 2 different 991 TTS cars, but somehow cant get myself to pull the trigger. The 991 TTS has the same technology, only about 1,5s faster to 200, than my PTT Powerkit and the interior is very similar also. I want a smaller sportscar, but have not convinced myself it is worth the extra 150000 euros I would have to pay.
I also think now that the 918 Spyder is a success, Porsche will try to get the development money back with other models. Now if a 991 Turbo S Hybrid would arrive with the facelift, I just might be more convinced, off course depending on how much more the Hybrid would cost than the norma 991 TTS.
Anyone have info/ guess on if the 991 facelift this Spring will have the hybrid variant, and I am not talking about a toy hybrid like the Panamera/Cayenne cars are. There is also an Audi R8 e-tron coming this year, but that is just a 2 seater and I need to pick the kids up now and then also the BMW i8 is not a sportscar with its narrow tires...
Desicions, reason and car enthusiasm dont fit together...

My understanding, the 991.2 is just an evolution, no significant changes. So for 918 technology to trickle down, its at least 2018, imo.
I'm tempted to order a 991.2 TT, but seriously considering, a V12 Vantage S. Clearly, not hybrid, but is about 4" (102mm) shorter than a 911.

Hybrid TT/TTS probably in next model, very likely not on 991.2. HP will be up over the 580-600 of the 991.2, probably to 700+. Seems clear that the 991 TTS and 918 were engineered for sub ~130 mph supremacy, which for most tracks is optimal. That both are slower over about 120 mph to top speed by Ferrari and McLaren is generally of no concern to most and if it is they can tune, although will still be hampered by weight disadvantage. The hypercars are another story, but one needs well over $1.5 million for those beasts.
Later...
than the refreshed 991 turbo is when you will see the hybrid technology. I cannot imagine such a technology leap occurring merely on a model refresh.
Also the notion of a model refresh is fairly contemporary since Porsche has historically made continuous improvements culminating in the GTS model before moving on to the next "refresh" which is usually a new model.
My assessment of the next 911 lineup will look like this: The GTx will be the only normally aspirated variant and it will have the largest displacement engine. All of the other normally aspirated variants excluding the GTx will have their engine displacements reduced and be turbocharged. The Turbo/S models will become true hybrids with a single drive motor at the front.
Of course my guess is as good as yours!

It is possible the biggest changes will be the addition of yet more models like the gt3 Rs and maybe a gt 2/Rs...then again cayenne and panamera got their hybrids with the facelift...
