We had a local guy here in Omaha who ran Blizzaks on his 991 Turbo S and drove it regularly in the snow. He elected not to do the same thing in his F12.
I bought mine from Burlington, although it was a transfer from Boston. Not sure who owned it before, but he/she (pretty sure it was a she) only owned it for two months over the summer then traded it in for a Black one.
I ordered a set of snows on some extra wheels from TR. I contacted OZ about the red trim ring, but they would let me have a different color... I may just spray it black or yellow... (or I'm lazy enough I may just get used to it).
A set of rims with snow tires mounted is a must have unless you just want to wait winter out. That would be 6 months for around here since those summer tires are just OK when the temperature dips below 40 deg. F even when the roads are clear. As a benefit the winter tires are cheaper to replace than the summer compound tires.
Thx guys, yup I made it home. See the new avatar. But it won't see the road till it's clear and the way it's been going here in Mass, could be a while.
Yeah lot of Mass-holes on this forum. We should meet in the spring someplace or early summer when the snow might be gone.
When I had a Porsche as my 'only' car, I drove them year 'round. None were AWD cars, but tossed on some studded snows on the back and off I went. Those cars did rust a great deal.
Hey, if the roads are clear and my driveway is not coated with ice, I drive my car everyday. But, I have a 4WD RAM truck with a plow, a Subie Forester, and my wife's E350 Merc with 4matic. So, I have no use to drive the 991 TT in crap conditions.
Also, with the calcium chloride salt product on the road, I find the summer sneakers slide dramatically making even slightly spirited driving interesting.
I'll keep the car in the garage and wait for SPRING!
