Decision time - EVOM piggy-back tune vs. GIAC Flash
My GIAC flashed ECU has a code stored in it that says something like "The ECU VIN doesn't match the vehicle" (paraphrased). If I can see that with a Durametric cable in my garage, I'm sure it would raise eyebrows at the dealership.
To be fair, I don't have any proof that the code wasn't there before the flash and I haven't checked to see if it is still there after 2,500 miles of driving. It did seem like an obvious indicator that something was amiss. Honestly, I would have still done it even if I knew. This car has some serious ***** now and I'm at 4200 ft with 91 octane!

Oh yeah the manufactures read these forums...just sayin
Dude you are missing the point, test your car now after the piggyback has been on a while and then remove it and test it stock again....Let me know what ya got then...
Enjoy going straight in your sports car without a factory warrantee..
I'll never understand why guys will buy an expensive sports car to run 1/4mi. when you can do better with a tuned Honda Civic for under 10K.

You removed it and tested it stock again ?
All I see from your Vbox data is a gain I highly doubt I would feel while driving not worthy of a $3k price..
But hey forget what I've been saying just enjoy your modified void warrantee Turbo S...
I'll make you a killer deal on a Level1tec piggyback..

So if i understand those graphs, I can spend who knows how much on a piggy back, headers and plenum and get less than .4 of a second in a quarter mile all while voiding my warranty? I know my butt is not that sophisticated to tell that difference for sure.

Same here...
I don't understand the point in your repeated post(s). You made your point that warranty is important to you, so you don't do any mods. Okay, fine but don't post repeatedly trying to bash people who do. People do research and weigh the benefits of doing mods versus not doing anything. I've been doing mods to Porsche Turbo's since the 996 model. All my cars, multiple 996's, 997, and now 991 have been modded with GIAC, exhaust, air filters, plenums, etc. I've never had one issue regarding them. All the cars were daily drivers with my 997 turbo having over 20K something miles on it. All my cars were modded by Champion Motorsports and I wouldn't trust anyone else. Either I've been realllllyyyy lucky or I have researched and bought, for me, the best mods installed by the best people. At the end of the day, whether someone mods or doesn't mod the car, as long as THEY enjoy it is all that matters.

My 991 TTS has GIAC Stage 2, Europipe exhaust with 100 cell cats, IPD plenum, Champion race diverter valves and BMC filter. No issues whatsoever. Car drives just like stock until the turbos come on. At that point the acceleration is dramatically faster than stock. There is a huge difference.

I did no bashing, far from it.... It's your money, your car, knock yourself out.
Some guys just can't afford to toss the security of an OEM warrantee to the side of the road for .4 sec 1/4 mi advantage.
Cheers
That is a substantial increase in power. It costs a lot of hp just to get a few mph gain in quarter time.
If you are worried it will void your warranty then don't do it. I am not concerned that it will void my warranty. I don't think it interferes with anything that Porsche does to make the car reliable. If I don't run the car outside it's intended limits and I keep it serviced regularly, I should be OK and shouldn't need the warranty. If I do and Porsche tries to deny a reasonable claim, I have plenty of money to hire an attorney. I don't anticipate it coming to that.
Dinan is unique in that they match the factory warranty period. That's why people choose Dinan despite making less power and costing more money than other piggybacks. Dinan works directly with BMW and the dealership will happily install their software/modules before you even take delivery of your car. It's very different to put a brand x piggyback on your Porsche.

I think all of us want to hear about warranty claims on this forum, but none of give a $#!t if any of us have a fear of a warranty getting voided.
By the time any of us open our wallets for our cars we have assessed our personal situation. I am happy this forum exists so that I can get peer-to-peer insight on all things car-related. Power mods are always the most interesting!
