Latest GIAC tune...

Hi guys,
While there have been numerous posts on GIAC Stage 1 and Stage 2, I just wish to inform people on this forum the latest software update from GIAC.

I had my car flashed 2 weeks ago by Sam over at ByDesign. Sam is an awesome guy to deal with and the latest software from GIAC is great! According to Sam and GIAC, the software I received is their latest version, which essentially combines Stage 1 and Stage 2 into one flash. A lot of updates have been written into the flash (and boy, did it take a long time to flash my car, as there were a lot of codes).

So if our GIAC sponsors can chime in on what GIAC incorporated in their latest software, I think everyone here would be very interested in reading about it.

Cheers my friend it was a pleasure meeting you! You're a gentleman and have an awesome car collection. A true car enthusiast!

Yes with the new software you can run Stage 2 even without any other upgrades and the car runs amazing. However as soon as a higher flowing exhaust goes on it really wakes up. One thing that is not highlighted enough is how much smoother the power delivery becomes. I have always been able to count on GIAC for the ultimate power, smooth delivery and happy customers.

Hey Sam I forgot, with a GIAC tune can you update the software remotely? Or it has to be done at a authorized GIAC dealer?

Has to be done at a GIAC dealer via OBD port. But I can bench flash it if you want to send it in and I will work with you on all of the details including Sambo deal/service! I may even be able to pass through and do it. GIAC has their own flash loader software and hardware.

We did some updates on our stage 2 calibrations for cold weather. When it was cold outside, the DME would power reduce in some cases. We made some changes to ensure that power would remain consistent in normal/cooler temperatures. Overall power wasn't changed compared to the previous revision, though.

So to confirm there is only 1 version now vs the stage 1 and 2 from before? So no need to upgrade in future?

There are still stage 1 and stage 2 files. A new version of stage 2 was created to make the calibration more consistent in cold weather. This update was not needed for stage 1.

So do I need to reflash my car again if I do decide to install an exhaust? Will the new software automatically detect this and switch to the stage 2 file?

You will be fine. The file you have will open up with an exhaust. I will still stand behind you if you try it and feel it's too much for your taste. I know this is your sleeper

So Austin, do cars with Stage 2 currently have to go get reflashed? Will there be a charge for this? We do have cold weather in Atlanta. I hate to think I spent $3500 5-6 weeks ago, only to have to reflash again at an additional charge.

GIAC never charges for updates and they are rare as the programs are so thoroughly tuned. I would check with your local to see if you need it.
I would be happy to help and check for you if you would like to email me your vin.

Hi Austin,

I am interested in flashing my car with this stage 2 tune and was wondering if you guys have a dealer here in the UAE that can do this using OBDII, without having to remove the ECU.

Thanks. The thing I need to ascertain is whether he can flash my ECU using OBDII (without needing to remove the ECU to send to GIAC in the US). I am reluctant to having my ECU taken off the car. From my previous conversations with some friends, I was told that the UAE dealer cant do that and must send the ECU to the USA. Will give him a call tomorrow to confirm.
