GIAC Tuned/meth 997.2 TTS Defeats Turbo Upgrade/FBO 991 Turbo S with Cobb Accessport
In this video from ShiftSector in October 2015, Longboarder's GIAC Stage 2+ tuned/water meth injected/stock turbos 997.2 Turbo S defeats -- by a very large margin -- a 991 Turbo S with upgraded turbos and full bolt ons built and tuned by BBI Autosport using the Cobb Accessport. Longboarder was running 91 octane pump gas plus water meth injection.
I am guessing that as tuners such as GIAC and Cobb (and from what I hear Boostlogic) get more experience with upgrading turbos on the 991 Turbo/Turbo S and additional turbo upgrades come on the market (we haven't seen Champion's yet but hopefully will soon) this result will be different in the future. But in this race, Longboarder won it by bus lengths.

Adam would do that to your car as well Scott. Saw him walk Mark a few times. He is quick! And it's a 997.2 (beast). From what I remembered that red car was slow all day for some reason. Do you know the mph? I know we killed it with stage 3 (for whatever reason). Maybe he was on 91. We actually got pretty similar trap speed to Adam if not better same day. 164.5 on Sat. The red car was unfortunately just not competitive that day.

Sam...I think the point was not so much to make it a Cobb vs GIAC thing, but to show (or ask why) 991 Turbo cars with upgraded turbos are still not matching 997.2 cars with full bolt ons and stock turbos....yet. If that 991 had upgraded VTG's then it should have been leaps and bounds faster then Adam's car, one would think. Especially since you say the Stage 3 was so close, if not just as fast as Adam all day.
My question would be what type of upgraded VTG's it had? That could make a big difference in what kind of power it's making.

Cheers Tom. I need a McGriddle, still punchy as a hard worker who has pride and respect for everyone's hard work. We def don't need to go backwards here lol! That car was not right for sure.
We should have some fun next weekend! FRIENDLY fun!

I think the top tuners will make these turbo upgrades sing with some time and more experience with Them under their belt.

That car came to us very early. It had some issues and had to be taken to the dealer. We don't think the AP is even installed on that car. Not a great comparison video.

Don't worry, we've got some surprise snails up our sleeve that I haven't really talked about to anyone yet. Things will "brighten up" really soon.

The red car had big issues! 154 trap in the half mile.
My By Design Cobb stage III car had the best 991 trap speed on Sat at this event. My stage IV Turbo car with Cobb AP will be at the 1/4 mile event in Bakersfield next week and Shift Sector 1/2 mile event in Feb. With my By Design/ Cobb AP, I always point my one GoPro looking back. LOL!
