Thumbs up Cobb Accessport - Adjustable Launch Control - Available Now!

Hey guys!

In tradition with adding to our long line of features no competitor can match, we are now proud to unveil adjustable launch control for the 991 Turbo and 991 Turbo S!

COBB adjustable launch control is available now to all certified COBB Porsche Protuners worldwide!

Over the past few months, and during large scale data analysis of customer's personal datalogs taken by the COBB Accessport, it has become painfully obvious that launching these cars with the factory race-start on the stock tires promotes large amounts of wheel spin.

What COBB's Porsche development team sought out was an easily adjustable solution that would adjust the torque available during a launch. We decided to do this by adjusting the boost targets during Race Start.

From the factory Porsche Race Start targets roughly 23psi of absolute pressure. This value can now be raised and lowered to meet each individual car's need and/or driver's preference.

By lowering power(boost) on launch with the factory tires, initial wheel spin can be reduced and overall traction can be increased.

We engineered the adjustable launch control to not only lower target boost pressure on race start but to raise it as well! This will be valuable to all of you that choose to run slicks at the track. Using COBB's adjustable launch control you can now launch with much more torque while still maintaining proper grip.

Adjustable launch control can be dialed in to each individual COBB Accessport owners preference.

Just another feature in the long line of COBB Accessport 1st's for the 991 Turbo:
  • Only 991TT tuning solution which allows for easy at home installation - no dealer visit required.
  • Only 991TT tuning solution that allows OEM level, customer acquired, datalogging - Monitoring the health, status, and condition of your own car should be your right!
  • Only 991TT tuning solution that allows for custom calibrations by your prefered Protuner - whether it be at the track or on the dyno, making changes via our custom Accesstuner software can be done in person or over the internet.
  • Only 991TT tuning solution with on-board troubleshooting options to pull and clear engine DTCs
  • Best in industry resale value due to extreme customer demand and unbeatable customer service COBB provides day in and day out.

1st (991TT) and 2nd (997.2TT) Pikes Peak International Hill Climb:

Porsche of Colorado Springs(David Donner) tuned on COBB Accessport

World's Fastest 991TT:

ES Motor tuned on COBB Accessport

World's Fastest Stock Turbo 991TT:

TopSpeed and Vengence Racing tuned on COBB Accessport

Thanks again for the outpouring of support you have all shown COBB since we took the reigns as the pinnacle tuning solution available for Porsche. We are always watching and taking notes. If there are any other features you all wish to be added in future updates please let us know. We base our next moves off of customer demand and not what will make us the quickest buck. That is how COBB has always been and will continue to be!

Thanks again!

-Jon

Thanks Nigel, but I most certainly can't pull this off alone. I am only just a small part of the most talented engineering/calibration/customer service team in the industry!

Yes, amazing how you all pull together in ways like a Navy seal team! Each specialist like Mitch with code/etc. or yourself with data/etc. work hard to comprise this level of of innovation and competence. On such a complicated platform you all make it look easy. The greatest like Jordan, Nicholson, Woods, Ali, Gretzky etc all rose to the occasion and made it look easy.

Keep innovating and meeting end user needs. Needless I say more....

To be fair, we are catching up with the GTR guys but hey, that's a good reference platform to be drawing from. Thanks for the additional functionality, now to start fooling around with it and see how to best take advantage of it. Looks like a visit to my favorite county road is going to be in order soon.

That's a great idea. Frankly at Atco I had thought that John Morgan's car was not launching a full boost because he was hooking up almost every time on P Zeros while I was spinning on Pilot Super Sports because I know mine was launching at full boost without any adjustment. I had figured the Cobb team had dialed back his boost a bit on launch.

If I remembered correctly, jmorgans file was tuned towards stronger off the line acceleration.

Which is exactly what would happen if you were running PZeros and the boost was dialed back a little bit from maximum on launch control. Max boost would cause wheelspin as it repeatedly did in my car

That little things that COBB offers is what I'm talking about... If you are in this "competitive little world" those things are the ones that make you "scratch your head" if you know what I mean hehe

John's car was on factory Porsche Race Start at factory boost levels that day. His car simply reacts differently than yours or others for his setup. Every car and driver are different. Adjustable launch control can be dialed in for optimized acceleration of each individual's car off of Race Start.

Yes the car was tuned perfectly for launching with only P Zeros. One of John's 60 foot times was in the 1.4s. -- and with P Zeros which are not grippy at all.

Well the factory boost level as opposed to an elevated boost level which can result from a tune worked perfectly with his P Zeros. I Brice my car was launching at full boost which the PSS's could not handle. I regret not having hands set of Mickey Thompsons on the rear for that event.
