Im expecting Nigel to beat this record, he has another goody or 2 on his car. Unfortunately without new turbos I will be relegated to middle of the pack which I am not happy about. I will not miss another shift sector without upgraded turbos one way or the other I will get them installed.

I hear you. Yes I expect Nigel's car will rock and roll especially given that Cobb/ByDesign have had time to test, tune and optimize their turbo upgrade.

Once upgraded turbos come out with the bigger custom housing which is what I am waiting for, the bar will be raised yet again. Mine won't be the fastest as I won't be adding meth to the mix

Hearing stuff like this, is what you gets you invited to the Invitational..
So hit me or Sumit up for the info

I cant speak for other entitites, but each location has its positives and negatives.

( @markblackwell , what did you trap in the 1/2 mile? Im curious and dont see it posted )

Sure, it was asphault, not a biggy, sure it had wind, sure it was cold. the good news? You were still 1/2 mile racing in January!

Since this is your thread, i think this is a place i can speak on a few details i think you and any other people would find interesting.

Slipstreams Airstrip is asphault. It will be scrubbed prior to, we say this because with our test day, that was dusty. We wanted worst case scenario to see how it really was. For reference, on that day, a bone stock MP412c did a best of 156, a 991 i believe did a best of 158, maybe 160, I dont recall, they each did about 65 passes lol

Same blue Mclaren at that was at Pocono, and same white 991 that won street class at pocono FYI

The positives of our airstrip, is we signed a deal that gives us exclusive rights to the airstrip for automotive purposes, so we are not competing. Additionally, we have nearly free reign on what dates we want throughout the year, so the beauty is in its simplicity, if the Invitational weather isnt nice, we push it. Long range forecast has March 5/6 as 50* or better, which is why we chose it. If its not good racing weather, we move it back.

July's Dig or Roll, has a set rain dates for Aug 5-6-7 if needed, or even another event if there is enough demand

So, now you say, what about conditions.
well, its not at sea level, that sucks.. BUT.. It is slightly down hill, about 15' total deviation from start to finish. That SHOULD offset the elevation issue. You can see it slope down, and then up after the 1/2 finish, to help in slowing your car down

NOW- the REALLY exciting stuff, to me anyway, is what we are timing.

In 1 single 1/2 mile pass, you start at drag strip level staging beams; beams light up on RaceAmerica's latest LED Drag Tree once staged, starter starts the tree sequence; you drop the hammer; electronics capture the Reaction Time; 60' beams record your 60', You blast past 1320' and system records 1320 ET and MPH, you blast through the 1/2mi, system records the 1/2mi ET and MPH

So the beauty, is that you get to compare all of the already known datapoints, so you know where the variations are. If you want to go for lowest ET, you can, if you want MPH, you know if its beast in the short track and falling off up top.

If you just want MPH, but think traction is the issue, well, look at the 60'

Are you guys excited yet

awesome! do you have a build thread, or different threads showing any previous times through your upgrade process?

I do not, this was my first true 1/2 mile race, last april I ran at omegasport but they start from a roll and the track is supposed to be a 1/2 mile but its a little longer I ran 158-160 without intercoolers and my old exhaust, but you cant compare the two.

performance Mods are as follows
champion intercoolers
Giac tune
GMG catless exhaust
filter

Yeah Tony runs NFZ at just over 3,000 feet from the back of the runway. Shift sector used to be this way as well until the cars started getting much faster and the braking zone needed to be a bit longer. So in 2015 (from what I remember) shift sector changed it to a true 1/2 mile.

The official Wannagofast results are now in and my GIAC Stage 2+'s fastest run was 3.4101 mph faster than the awesome Cobb Stage 2's best run -- 161.6379 mph to 158.2278. Here are the results from Sunday -- the faster of the two days where both cars posted their best runs:

http://www.wannagofast.com/event-tim...016sun_fin.htm

This 3 mph delta was consistent with the 3 mph delta in our one (unplanned) head to head race:

I felt the need to clarify because my friend Webcarconnection (who is a super great guy in person whom I look forward to seeing again at another event) had posted here that he saw the Cobb car do a 160 mph run -- which would
Only be 1 mph faster than my much more extensively modded car.

The report of only a 1 mph difference, of course, Caused some members running the Cobb tune to make some comments drawing rather unflattering conclusions about the GiAC tune that, as it turns out, are not supported by the event's results.

People make buying decisions based on this stuff and I felt the need to correct this incorrect -- but I am sure well intentioned -- report.

I was shocked by the report by Webcar that the Cobb Stage 2 car ran 160 mph which would only be 1 mph faster than mine. Moreover the traps I saw from that car were in the 157-158 range.

I actuality, the 3.4101 mph difference between my car and the Cobb Stage 2 car is more in line with what I had expected. 158 mph with almost no Mods is a fantastic result -- some 8 mph higher than, for example, the 2 458 that ran. I don't think a different driver would have driven the Cobb Stage 2 car to a much faster result.

This is not a commentary on whether my car would have been faster than the Cobb/ByDesign Stage 3 with ByDesign intercoolers car. That would have been an apples to apples race. At ShiftSector, the ByDesign Stage 3 car was faster than the GIAC Stage 2+ car In head To head racing but the GIAC Stage 2+ car came
Home with a higher trap speed of the meet (on the better running day -- Sunday).

From what I understand that Cobb Stage 2 car will be back with more extensive mods at future events. Which means it's speed will go way up from what was a strong result with so little mods.
