Traded my i8 for a 991tt

I took a huge hit !! But I could not stand it anymore ... Everytime I walked passed the car it was not a nice feeling . I don't even know why I purchased it last year . Anyways , I went to a Porsche dealer and traded it in . I knew the hit was going to be HUGE !!! But , I left with a leftover 2015 991TT and I now very satisfied . The sticker was 164,000 and I got the car for 130,000.

Nice. I went to the Porsche dealer to look at 991s after the BMW dealer told me he had sold all of his i8 allocations.

We have an i3 and love it, but I cant imagine not having the TTS now.

You did get a great deal though. Congrats! And one of my friends works for BMW and his i3 is really cool. I never really understood the i8. Enjoy the turbo!

Thanks ... I truly love this turbo ... Ironically , this is my second turbo . You may think I am crazy but o bad actually forgotten that I had owned another one in 2008-2009 ! It was a 993 TT( 1996) ... Yellow on black . 10k Miles ... I purchased it for 82k and was forced to sell it for 92k ... At the time it was no big deal ( I had no idea what I had in my garage ) . The real estate market took a turn and I lost almost everything ... So I let it go ... By the way the car was 99.5 percent perfect !!! I departed from the car scene for about 5 years . Then when I came back into it I later saw what that car is worth today !!!! Man, that hurts

That sounds like it was a nice one. I feel your pain there! I sold my 993 turbo which was a very well done (IMHO) GT2 clone and I did most of the work myself. I don't think I'm ready to talk about when I sold for in 2007!

I think the prices will drop very soon ... But whoever was able to get 200,000 and over for their 993 's , God bless them ... I am waiting for the prices to drop on the new GT3 's

Out of pocket 15,600. REMEMEBR I lost 57,000 on the trade in !!! It's not like I had any other option but to keep the i8 . And that was not an option for me .. Like I said it was a huge mistake . But I am happy with the trade . And that's what's important . As far as the 15,600 , I had to do it to bring my payment down to 3100. Per month . But i plan on keeping this car . I am new looking for a gt3 . Waitin for the price to significantly dip as there were over 3,000 built . There is way too much fever Right now

Iam done with BMW- The resale value is absolutely horrible. Lexus and Toyota for me, and of course the 991-GT3

I went for the i8 because I got caught up in the newness and look of the car and it was a comfortable drive ( very quiet ) but I can't really put my finger on it as to the reason I disliked it later on .... One reason was the decrease in value. I saw one yesterday at a new lambo dealership here in south Florida for 115 k with only 400 miles !!! This car will eventually be a huge disgrace for BMW !! But moving forward I absolutely love my 991t .... And I will eventually pick up a gt3 if and when the prices dip ... I am hoping

You seem to really hate the i8 so I'm curious as to why. Not reliable? Wasn't fun to drive? Lack of power? I ask because I am considering one...you mentioned the depreciation but that can be said of any 911 not named a GT3..991 Turbo's are a GREAT car and I love them but 2014s are falling fast and will accelerate even further now that the new 991.2s are out..just looking for some insights so I can either stop thinking about one and move on or be aware of whatever it was that caused you to sell.

Lastly, I know they are two different cars but how do you like the 991 Turbo now? That's another car I'd consider. Thanks in advance for any insights and enjoy that car!
