RedGutz 991 Turbo S Takes On Tail of the Dragon -- 12 Hi-Def Go Pro Videos

Here are my 12 1080p hi-definition Go Pro videos of my 3 runs up and down the Tail of the Dragon during the Corsa America Dragon 1100 rally on May 15, 2016. It is just like being back on the TOD. The first 6 are from a camera I mounted on the back glass facing forward which captures the exhaust and engine noise. You really hear the fireworks coming from Tubi catless race exhaust from this camera

The last 6 are from a camera I mounted facing forward on the front windshield. Not as much exhaust/engine noise but a more unobstructed view. Travel with me down the Tail!

At 117 cars it was the biggest rally in the US this year. It was a lot of fun. We had a bydesign stage 4 turbo upgrade 991 Turbo S on the rally from Long Island. One of my friends and a member here and his car performed beautifully without incident.

Having done goldrush rally 7 last year it was interesting to see the differences between the two. Enjoyed both but they are nothing alike.

In June 2017 corsa will do it's first Coast to Coast rally.

I'll put up a post about it later. Cities are in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver then they ship the cars to and we continue from Chicago then Toronto and Montreal then Boston.

Cost is $7750 with the discount code that brings it down to $7050.

great videos! if i may i have a few bits of advice for anyone who wants to run the dragon.

its imperative that you stay in your lane. the bikes that run hard on the dragon use the entire lane and there are tons of blind corners. they come out of nowere!
watch for shadows on the road. they keep the moisture on the road longer and can get slick with leaves in the corners.
if you use the camera in front get a small microphone with a long cord and run it into the back by the muffler. you get the view from the front and the sound from the rear!

Last time I did the Dragon was in 2010 on my Concours 14. Was a blast and rubbed out my fairings from touchdowns on several corners! Can be a lot of fun!

That sounds like a really nice route. I've never been to California

We would love to have you. We had something like 17 or so 911s on the Dragon rally include an awesome stage 4 ByDesign/Cobb turbo upgrade 991 TTS.

Here is the link to the Facebook page with pictures of some of the roads we will be going on in that rally:

https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...63654303653676

I vacation in California a lot. The Pacific coast highway on that stretch is to me the single greatest scenic road in America. Angeles crest is widely considered to be the greatest and most challenging driving Road in California. Full of mountain twisties

We're probably going to be planning an alternative route from Las Vegas to Salt Lake which will include Utah's best mountain roads. There will probably be a shorter route option as well but not the one I'll be taking.

Who doesn't want to stand on the summit of pikes Peak? The goldrush rally participants loved it even though they could not make it to the summit because of snow. But their views at. the 12,000 foot level were mind blowing. Be going up Pike's Peak in June so snow should no longer be a problem to driving to the summit

^ Thanks for the info! Will have to see what next year ends up looking like, but it is nice to have a vacation option other than Houston (no offense to people who reside there, but I always go for TX2k and I feel like it is the only "vacation" I ever take and maybe I should try other places as well).

I like racing but I love rallying. I love to travel and experience new things.

You get to see so many things, drive for so many hours and met and hang out with so many like minded people. I wish I could rally all the time but we all gotta pay the bills. Chris went on Goldrush Rally with his Boostlogic 991 TTS and I am sure he had a blast as well. The two rallies are totally different. GR excels in car shows, shutting down cities and traveling in police escorted motorcades into and around cities, big social media and top clubbing. Driving is almost all interstate highways. Many cars are insanely awesome wraps.

Corsa is more about back roads driving. Similar hotels to Goldrush at a third to 40 percent of the price but no street shutdowns, car shows, motorcades and social media is not on the same elevated level as Goldrush. A more low key experience more focused on driving.

I have gone done both Goldrush and Corsa and loved both. Corsa is closer to who I am as to me driving is priority one but I would enjoy Goldrush again as well

Am doing Cannonball Run Rally in October from Lenox, Massachusetts to Havana. That rally has luxury on a level that no US rally has ever provided and is sold out. Will be limited to about 30 participant cars. That one is all about backroads, small towns, five start and botique hotels (Ritz Carlton and up -- we will be at the Ritz Carlton Buckhead one night), gourmet dinners and a private jet round trip between Florida and Havanaz

Nice! Lmk when you are in Buckhead. I'm about a mile from the Ritz and go there on a somewhat regular basis. I don't think there would be any harm in my swinging by to check out the cars and have a bev.

Awesome. PM me your cell and I will hit you I when we are in Buckhead. Should be about Oct 18-19 or so. Car list is insane. LaFerarri. 2 Aventador SV roadsters and one SV coupe, like 3 F12s, Ferrari Daytona and on and on (at least 2 991 Turbo Ss as well).
