Rock chip in the worse place ever...
Rock chip in the worse place ever...
So I was detailing my car the other day and found a tiny little rock chip in the worse place ever. it is so small, but visible. Took it somewhere to get a "chip repair", not going to work with the GT Silver. Need it painted.
Called Roger Beasley and was not impressed with the rep on the phone after I talked to them, sent them pictures... the guy said: "I don't have the car in front of me to be familiar with the panels..." like 911 TT comes in many shapes... they used to do all the Roger Bealey Porsche work before it was bought out.
Called Berli's (supposed to be a high end car body shop) also the advisor wasn't familiar with the car... needs it to make sure... come on! did I just talk to the wrong guy over there???

Well Roger Beasley Collision has done great work for me. Ask for Johann or Scott. I had a similar ding on the top of my left rear wheel well that my wife put on my car with her Cayenne door about the third day I owned the car. They weren't able to just pop it out but had to take the wheel well liner out and push it out then paint, total cost was $475 I think. However, you can't tell it was ever there but my car is Rhodium Silver, not expensive GT Silver. They have also done three minor to medium jobs on my wife's '14 Cayenne TTS front and rear bumpers and all have been quality work.

Dropped it off at Berli's this morning. Got a new advisor there and he walked me through the entire process. Clean and awesome facility. Should have it back by Thursday. After, it will get a full XPEL wrap.
Where is Berli's? I haven't heard of it but Roger Beasley has a clean room for aluminum work and they have a very large and modern facility. I don't think you have much to worry about on that little chip anyway. Should look great after they cover it up. I have one that has gone through the bra that I am pondering getting fixed but just don't really feel it's worth it at this point. I also think the bra would have to be replaced which would mean this chip cost about $2000, not worth it I don't think.

I am getting quoted, no insurance involved, removing rear spoiler/wing, removing molding around the window, molding on the roof close to the edge, plastic vent paint, repair, clear and all related work plus repair a flat (don't ask.. found a screw in my rear tire this morning) 1342.00 taxes included to have it done like it never happened before. That's not a bad price. I could have filed a claim with GEICO but not worth adding something stupid to my spotless record.
I heard great things about Roger Beasley as well but they won't have time for me until the 13th or 14th, wanted the work done right now.

Berli's pretty much told me that to get it to what I wanted, per the conversation we had on the phone, we had to paint... I wanted not see it period! I am OCD in a clinical way.

That was my original plan. Did not work out like that and I wish it had. After I get it back it is going to XPEL of San Antonio where the whole car, except for the freshly painted section, will be wrapped, then I will wait the recommended period of time and get the rest done.
