How much louder --> replacing stock cats with 200-cell units

I recently installed an Akrapovic slip-on exhaust on my 991.1 TTS. Love the sound and looks, though of course things could always be a bit louder

I'm aware of Akrapovic's own 100-cell catalytic converters, though the cars I've heard are too far on the other end — too loud and with too different of an exhaust tone than what I'm looking for and what I currently like about my setup.

What do people think about replacing my stock cats with Fabspeed's 200-cell units? Will it yield an exhaust tone that's a bit more aggressive and louder than what I have currently but without going all the way to Akrapovic's 100-cell cats that's, for me personally, too aggressive and too loud?

Thanks!

Another question that'd help is whether or not people who have replaced their stock cats with something similar to Fabspeed's 200-cell units have noticed their exhaust tone changing or getting louder.

In general, 100 cell cats are less restrictive and therefore louder than comparable 200 cell cats. There may be some variation between manufacturers but that is the general rule.

Catless might be way too loud for me :\

In my head at least, this is the spectrum o' loudness I was imagining that I'd love help verifying from others' experience:

With the Akrapovic Slip-On exhaust:
Catless —*way too loud
100-cell (Akrapovic's own offering) —*too loud, too different of tone
200-cell (Fabspeed's offering) —****might be the sweet spot?***
400-cell (stock) —*great sound and tone, a bit too quiet.

the Akrapovic 100 cell is loud WOT but not unbearable. That is the route for most customers who want to daily the car and have had no complaints of being too loud.

(that car also has fabspeed headers)

The good thing about the 991tt is that there is a pretty significant difference in exhaust note between the different driving modes.

Go Tubi catless. Exciting sound but not overbearing

Sorry I misread your question and assumed you had the Akrapovic exhaust WITH 100 cell cats. I honestly have heard 100 cell, 200 cell and catless on 991TT and they sound so similar to my ear. It might be worth a shot to get the 200 cell, if you think the 100 cell would be too loud. Some distributors/retailers would it accept it back if you don't like the sound and don't put too much mileage on it.

I have a set of the Fabspeed cats if you are interested in trying them for 1/2 price. They were on my car for approximately 1k miles.

They did significantly change the tone and "bite" of the exhaust. With the Sharkwerks straight pipes it was just a little too much, so I went with a full Kline system, but haven't sold the Sharkwerks or the Fabspeed cats because I've just been too busy.
