ALP Laser jammer / Stinger system installed (pics)
Howdy..
The Stinger has fantastic potential but needs major work (updating etc)...stay away..until they do the necessary tech it needs it doesn't make the grade especially for the price
The ALP system has always been a top notch performer and company with excellent tech reaction and innovation...the addition of the Net Radar component ups the ante and although it's still in it's development stages the ongoing tech releases improves the system constantly...now with MRCD radar here the Net MRCD antenna is a welcome addition although disappointing they didn't/could amalgamante it into the main antenna. Soon we'll have radar direction options (arrows sorta) with the addition of a rear antenna (the system currently supports three with the MRCD counting as one) although I wish they utilized a stand alone screen pad akin to the Stinger rather than having to use an Android or ios to perform the more indept monitoring (you can still use the control pad only although with limited features)..
Anyway the ALP is the top notch jammer on the market and "if" the radar defence is not it's certainly adequate...
Alp/Net radar for the WIN !! handsdown

What's your perspective on the Blackvue? Do you find people coming up to look at your car while its parked?
I didn't install the MRCD as the Stinger also detects...but what I did find out was it's performance against such to date is somewhat dismal..and unfortunately I'll have to remove bumper again to install the MRCD antenna and rear Net antenna...if I must I will..Ive been waiting to see if Stinger steps up their game and what comes from the ALP camp...thye didn't have the MRCD antenna when I did my install...
The Blackvue is a good all round system performer..I have two 650/2 as well as an iTronics HD100 in my Vette..the latter has a much better picture as it runs a higher bitrate...you won't make any HD video movies with the Blackvue but it serves as intended
As to your last question I seldom park for any extended time outside and I never review the files unless I'm looking for something..but if you're a keener the new blackvue has the "cloud" setting of which you can monitor through the camera real time on a remote viewer (phone/computer) with an ADHOC wifi connection..too much crap for me..didn't set up..also comes with a fee I think...I mostly use the camera/s to document laser/radar hits / jams
Blackvue has become more reliable (used to overheat which is why they turned the bitrate down) and I'd purchase the 650/2 again

Can you give us more details of why you think the Stinger is so inferior. I have a car with the old ALG9+BelSTrR combo and another car with the Stinger VIP. To be honest I haven't seen much difference between them. What makes the ALP so much better than the Stinger?
Well first off the Stinger you have in your Country is different than NA..different f/w and software.
Also I must add I do not have the Stinger laser defense system..it's not highly regarded and needs work compared to the ALP.
MY Stinger
-does not store lock outs reliably and when you lock out a K sigmal it also locks out KA
-encounters I've had with MRCD alerted only as I passed the source..much too late to protect me from a citation
-very poor updating hot spots
-f/w updates virtually non-existent

Thanks, that's a great summary. Link looks very informative!
