1/2 mile world record?
Is this really a world record? They've got a lot of fast cars and tracks in the middle east. What kind of 60' and 1/4 do you need to do this? Video Link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CgkVN3Q3-l4
Professional 1/4 mile race teams like Ekanoo racing have all sorts of modern cars that could mop up anything that we think is fast here.
Actually i think u misunderstood, all the Underground Racing cars at the last 1/2 mile event went home under their own power and without breaking.I think u will find if u do some research the Underground Racing built Lambos are very reliable even with the crazy hp numbers they are running. There was another Lambo tuner at the event that did have two cars go on fire so i can understand the confusion.I think the main reason Underground don't run the mile is they would just go too damn fast to be safe without hitting a wind tunnel to make sure they don't take flight at around 300mph.

i would think the only reason these cars dont run the mile is due the saftey requirements do run in excess of 210 in the mile. 8 or 10 point rollbars halon systems and qualifying take much of the streetability out of the car. just not safe to street drive a car with a 8 point cage on it
I would say just the opposite its not safe to drive a car 250mph without a rollcage. Im not anywhere near that speed and I still put in a 4 point rollbar with a harness. At the last shiftsector Nacho's camaro flipped at 190mph He and his passanger were airlifted to the hospital for check ups and they both were walking around the event on sunday, the car had a full cage I saw the car and it saved there lives. these accidents are rare but woudnt you feel better knowing your alot safer? I dont know how streetable a 2500whp lambo really is or a GTR.
On the other hand, driving around in a car with a roll bar near your head on the street without a helmet is quite dangerous.
So, for all intensive purposes, combining 250mph and street use is unsafe by definition (unless you dont mind driving on the street with a helmet).
"world record" well the 1/2 mile is sort of a new thing only a couple years old and completely amateur based. So sure yes world record for amateur participants for a very new discipline. Remember 20+ years ago stock chassis mustangs and camaros were going 200mph in the quarter mile on shoestring budgets. Could they have gone 250 in the half mile? Sure if they wanted but they didn't have a half-mile opportunity.

Those guys were doing 7's and 8's slipping and sliding all over the 1/4 mile tracks. A few died as a result. These were the guys that would have jumped at the opportunity to go 250 maybe 300 in the half.

When I used to drag race I would cover the first 1/8 mile at a speed of around 175MPH and I would only gain about 25MPH in the second 1/8 mile because I was covering so much ground so quickly.
This is a very big and impressive accomplishment that they have done.
Only because the 1/2 mile events didn't exist back then so of course they were purpose built for the only discipline (1/4 mile) available to them. They could have easily put on street tires changed gearing and rolled out for a half mile pass.
