Great Lithium Battery Option

Hi Everyone,

We are Antigravity Lithium-Ion Batteries and have recently signed on as sponsors with 6SpeedOnline. We just wanted to take the opportunity to say hi to all and introduce our company and products. At Antigravity Batteries we specialize in Lightweight Lithium-Ion Batteries for Motorsports as well as produce our award winning MICRO-START (mini jump starters) personal power supply product line.

Lithium-Ion, as an Automobile Starter battery, is a relatively new technology and offers some exceptional benefits over Lead/Acid, but being a newer technology there is often misinformation and questions regarding lithium-ion, and we hope to be able to educate those who have questions and are looking at going with a Lithium-Ion battery option in their vehicle. We will be glad to answer how our products technology works and compares to competitors in the market as well. At this point in time we offer the most advance products available from any brand!

The benefits of Lithium Starter Batteries are that they weigh up to 75% less than a similar size Lead/Acid battery and can save about 30 to 50 lbs (depending on the vehicle's battery size), additionally Lithium offers more cranking power than a lead/acid battery. So for performance vehicles, and those seeking dramatic weight loss, better handling, and shorter braking distances on their car, this is absolutely the most cost-effective product on the market. Our NEW RS-30 Lithium-Ion battery weighs 11 pounds, and is 35 lbs lighter than the H6/Group48 battery found in many Porsche's and other vehicles. To lose 35 lbs of weight using Carbon Fiber, Titanium, or other exotic materials in modifications can be extremely expensive and you'll find our Lithium Battery is a fraction of those costs, improves many aspects of overall performance, and only takes about 20 minutes to install with a few hand tools. Please check the video below to see how the groundbreaking RS-30 battery works with its incredible RE-START feature that won't leave you stranded.

Antigravity Batteries has been in business since 2010 when we started making Lithium batteries for race vehicles, and since that time we've developed some ground breaking Lithium-Ion products like the previously mentioned 11 pound Lithium Battery, the RS-30, and we developed the first mini Jump-Starters in 2013 with our MICRO-START XP-10 Model being named Consumer Reports “Best Rated Jump Starter”. We also offer other unique functional Lithium-Ion products and you can visit our website to learn more. www.antigravitybatteries.com

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us. Whether its about a battery for World-Class Racing or your daily driver performance cars or bikes. Our intention is to give you the information you need to make the most informed and best educated decision on this newer technology.

Well RS-30 is a Universal Fit. For example it's a little smaller than most Lead/Acid Batteries and then we make a Tray for it that allows it to adapt the Foot Mount that most Lead/Acid Batteries use.

For example we have a GT3 RS... it uses the Lead/Acid Group 48 Battery also known as the H6 Battery... So with the tray the RS-30 bolts right in place... it works the same on the other H Series battery like the Group 49/H7 Battery the Performante uses.

But here's the issue that I have to check into... we sell to alot of the Audi R8 Crowd... and that was going well, but the 2018 R8 has a newer IBS system on it.... which means you have to punch in some Serial#s from the battery before you install it. So someone who was trying to put it into the R8 couldn't figure that out. So being the R8 might have the same system as the Performante I need to check that out. Cars are getting a bit over the top and now on the BMWs, Audi, and a few others you have to do some formating in the Cars system to even install the battery. They do this because they claim their charging system will also change the charge to the Battery as it ages. But
Let me do a little checking on the 2018 Performonte to make sure it doesn't have some new electronics.

We can ship international however it can be quite expensive as lithium has to be classed as "hazardous materials". We do have some international vendors as well but you can pm us directly or email chad@antigravitybatteries.com and we can get a quote put together as well as see what other options we might have for you.

Manuel,

can you provide some feedback on the battery use, along with your radar detector and Blackvue 2 channel camera?

i am close on the decision of getting one but I have a built in escort radar and I am running a blackvue 2 channel 750 dash camera. I have the camera connected to the outlet in the glove box so I don't have to run crazy wiring. Any feedback? I would probably consider installing the blackvue battery pack, so the camera runs through that instead the car power all the time.

Thanks

Hi,

I have an R3 and a Blackvue 2 channel 650, the only issue that I have seen is if the Blackvue has the WIFI on for extended periods of time it will put the battery into sleep mode, in that case you would open the frunk and hit the restart button...problem solved, but if you are going to use the battery pack, you should not have this issue.

Hope this helps,

Manuel

This is probably a worst case scenario... say the battery is drained beyond the re-start function (drained battery, hit re-start, drove for less than a mile, shut off car, can't restart again due to low SOC), can i jump start it like a regular battery with no risk of damage?

Hey Harry,

I see what your saying... yes you can jump start Lithium.... you would just have to make sure youpress the -RE-START button to make the battery awake, and then jump start it... you have about a minute of time before the RE-START cuts off again and once jumped then the voltage will be seen by the battery and keep the battery awake and recharging. But we would not recommend jump starting any lithium that is below 9.5v or lower because lithium wants to be massaged back up gentrly until 10.5v where it then can take a typical regular charge rate.

If you have any other questions let me know.

It's not that whatsoever....it's the fact that we are not alway monitoring the site by being on it, and oddly sometimes we don't get the notification of any responses to the thread, so we don't even know there has been a response. So sorry for that.

Aside from my personal belief that Canadians should not have access to hi-performance vehicles, I would never put that between us. That's a joke in case it doesn't translate from English to Canadian (another joke)....

But shipping to Canada is expensive, we are trying to work that out, and get some products up there. Our other products are up there through a Distributor, but for this product we wanted to keep the pricing very reasonable for what it is... so we DON'T give it to our Distributor or then it becomes a much more expensive battery. We sell only direct or through our Dealers... but the Dealer in Canada usually buy through our Distributor up there. So that's the rub on shipping the RS-30 up there. But obviously we can do it no problem, we just have to explain that shipping cost so you know what you are getting into. But as it is now the shipping costs are like $250 to $300. And we are working on ways around that.

Now in regards to the Perfomante, I had mentioned in the original reply to your inquiry that there may be some updated electronics on the 2018 and it seems there is an updated IBS attached to the battery for that vehicle. So the short answer is that we're not sure if that is going to interfere with the battery management system on the RS-30 as we haven't been able to test it yet so it''s not clear how it will affect it. I would be however some programming steps will need to be taken in order for it to function correctly in the system. You can always PM me as well so we can go a little further into detail.
