SpeedTech GT2 RS Style 991 Turbo 3.0 Valved Exhaust

Below is a video we shot at our exhaust testing facility, highlighting our newer 991 Turbo "valved" GT2 RS style exhaust. This particular version has a 3.0 X-Pipe at the core and utilizes 100 cell HJS catalysts. It can be alternatively optioned with a 2.5 X-Pipe. A simple push of a button opens the cat dump pipes for a much more aggressive tone, same as the OEM exhaust on the 991.2 GT2 RS. With the valves closed, it's our traditional 3.0 X-Pipe. Additionally, the valves can be programmed to open up at any user defined RPM. We have found 5,500 RPM to be a great spot to transition to open valves.

Users should enjoy this system's options. It's great to be able to toggle back and forth with the sound or set a driver defined RPM for the valves to open.
As an example, the system allows the operator to be in the open or loud mode on the open road and when approaching a busy area, gas station, etc. with a lot of people, simply select the closed valve mode and the system instantly becomes much quieter, very civilized and refined, unless you want to remain loud such as arriving to a car meet or car show where everything is typically louder.

Here are a few pictures from the development stage and a video to demonstrate the system.

Valve closed

Installed

Valved pipe directly off the catalyst, same as 991 GT2 RS (the inner tip is for gasses travelling through the X-Pipe when dump valve is closed, the outer pipe/tip dumps straight out from the catalysts when open)

3.0 X-Pipe w/ rolled edge tips (slash cut also available and pictured above)

No, it comes with a programmable remote to choose always open, always closed or any user defined RPM to open. These are better and more options than the OEM ECU controlled operation on the GT2 RS.

OK, I see now, sorry, didn't watch the video till the end.

But why you say that OEM is ECU controlled operation ? It is just a button open/close.... I would like very much to avoid another remote in the car .... must be the way to hardwire such a simple operation

WITH THE OEM GT2 EXHAUST - Even when the OEM button is on, the valves stay closed until a specified RPM, then open, other than at idle, at which time the button opens the valves until the car starts rolling. When it begins to move, the valves close until a higher RPM, then they open. There is no way to keep them open all the time. That's the difference between our options and the factory. With the factory, you can have always open and you can not adjust the RPM at which it cracks open, which is a great feature with the SpeedTech version.

Yes, it can be hard wired, I did it on my turbo S. I installed two buttons on the parking brake and use them all the time. They are wired to a remote that sits in the cavity behing the parking brake. Here's a picture, one is closed, one is open .

This looks kinda nonsense to me .... ON / OFF button but still depends on RPM ..... On my old Panamera Turbo S when I push that OEM button valves opens, and then another push closes, and not depending on anything else.
So if You have hard wired those valves controls from aftermarket buttons then definitely there is the way to use OEM button, but just a button, without all that GT2 RS 'logic', or maybe to take "exhaust ecu" (if such exists ) from old Panamera .... just wondering, need to see schematics hot it is connected and controlled.

The 991 GT2 AND GT3 are programmed to open at a set RPM.

Maybe the center switch could be used, I explored it a bit and was told it was part of a circuit bouard on the 991 and not recommended/would not work.

This is very confusing ... so then what does that exhaust switch in 991 GT2 center console if valves are programmed to open at certain RPM ???
If I leave switch not activated valves will open anyway at set RPM ? Or ... ?

Low chance but maybe that wiring is pre-made and there is a connector under console and the just needs to be coded/activated via software, just guessing, would be good to check .....

[QUOTE=negb;4949793]So.... I was right .. thanks a lot Soul Performance for shearing and Auto Amateur !!!/QUOTE]

No, that is not exactly correct for this discussion/application. That's a 991 non turbo, which has a PSE button as an option. We make a system for that model with valves that simply connect to the OEM vacuum hoses and it works with the factory button. It's a basic, very simple installation with no special modifications required. Otherwise, the PSE console is a retrofit utilizing a 991 part. Whether that part would work in the turbo is the question. It very well might, but it's quite an experiment.

The turbo is different, as there is no option available for a PSE or a valved exhaust on the turbo or turbo S. Therefore, any console switch would have to be retrofitted to the center console from a 991 non turbo and there lies the problem. The car is not set up for it from the factory, so there would be some trial and error required to see if it would work, sourcing the switch or console, then seeing if programming is possible, etc. Again, the turbo is a completely different scenario than the 991 with PSE, so it remains to be seen as to whether it would work on the turbo. I can see where it might, but I would not be surprised if the provisions were not there to code it on a turbo. Someone has probably either tried and failed or sucessfully done it on a turbo. Time will tell.
