991 ordering: is bluetooth not standard ?
Since this forum is a little slow I thought it would be ok to bother the masses with the minutia of bluetooth in the ordering process.
There is an option called Telephone Module which gets you bluetooth and a quad-band GSM module built in the car deck. Like in the past you get a sim slot in the car and basically a carrier unlocked cell phone built in the car - and bluetooth.
I get it. I understand what this option includes. My question is "is this the only way handsfree bluetooth in built in the car?" I can't imagine that such a tiny and inexpensive (and invisible).. but important thing wouldn't be standard in a 2012 991. Many states require handsfree in a car under the law - and eventually all will. Heck you can buy a cheap BT headset for $29.
So if you skip "TELEPHONE MODULE" are you going to be losing Bluetooth? Even if you have Burmester/SAT/HD/etc, will you be missing BT? Seems like an easy but deadly miss in the ordering process.

Bluetooth is standard. The only advantage to the phone module, and I have it in my '12 CTT, is that if you use a phone with remote SIM profile, the SIM from your phone can be used to power the built in GSM phone over bluetooth. Really cool. Sometimes I switch from my iPhone 4S to an Android phone to take advantage of this for longer drives and to use the built in aerial antenna.

Thanks. And that is what I thought but couldn't find hard evidence to support that. It would be a crime to have a $130k sports car but skipped ordering tooth because I thought it was standard. But like you said I might grab that telephone module option.
Here is the only blurb I found in regards - the word "Communication" in the description of PCM 3.1, which is standard and option independent.
"The latest version of Porsche Communication Management, PCM 3.1, is standard equipment on the new 911. Powerful, multifunctional, and easy to use, PCM is your control center for audio, navigation, and communication functions."

I have the option as well. And I read your explaination carefully and with interest. I have only one question. WHAT? I know the words you wrote were English, but I just don't understand. Could you explain to an electrophobe like me?

Bluetooth is NOT standard in all regions.
The options list varies a lot depending on which country you are in. This goes for just about everything.
In some countries certain items are standard, others are not.
Example:
For my "S" build, bluetooth is almost a $1000 option, Satnav is around $5000 option. PASM and PDK however are standard. You can still select MT instead of PDK but there is no reduction in price.
We don't get "packages" like in the U.S. - instead the options list is much longer and you have to select every item as you like it (effectively making your own package).
