Clear corner markers for US market

We've been spoiled by the great European shots of the new 991 in euro dress. We in the U.S. are going to need to order clear markers. Our D.O.T. is **** about the orange plastic. That's gotta go.

I haven't seen these pumkins in the US/Canadian configurator.
Man I was really hoping the standards where changing (addaption to new technology, led's etc.).
I actually got a ticket for having clear side markers this summer, no kidding

I'm not sure - but I've got about 10 pics of 991's with the orange side markers. Don't know what other country besides the US would require them.

I can't believe you got a ticket for clears. I would have waited until he was done writing the ticket then give the cop by two bits until he walked away - And I wouldn't be friendly about it. That's a dick move. He was looking hard to give you a ticket.

He actually said I HAD TO have reflector stickers on the car...
I was giving him the "high end car's do not have reflector stickers but lenses with housing and bulbs schtick...

He told me "be quiet or Ill give you another ticked for your pipes and have this little car put on a trailer and you can explain it to the judge"...

A$$HOLE!

That's when you drive off knowing that he's a traffic cop and you are driving a car that is 2 years of his salary.

I've been on a red license for 7 months (just got my full license back) lost it by going 12-14 MPH OVER on our TOLL ROAD to the airport IN MY WIFE's BMW X5 DIESEL. Not one ticket in my cars. Same cop 3x. He hated me. I forgot to mail in my fourth ticket in a timely fashion which made for 12 points instead of a reduction to 10.

Totally lame.

Clear lenses for a 997 are 50 bucks. A 997 owner buddy and I installed mine before I left the dealer's lot the day I picked up my new 911. So it's no big deal. However, if I knew I was facing a $550 ticket for running clears, I'm pretty sure I'd still have amber lenses in place. Just saying...

Well, I'm sure he had a rare experience. I live in a state where front plates are required and I don't rock a front plate - and have never been cited on the matter. So anyway.

Yeah I'll be ordering those markers in clear and installing them in real time like you and your buddy did. The initial dealer inventory will be here 4 weeks before my build so I'll know for sure if I need to order those clears or if they come clear from the factory now.

Cheers all!

Yeah... OK..., I turned him into an A-hole...
Lots of cops pull along side and give me a nod or thumbs up... and with a big smile and appropriate gesture I reciprocate this friendly and cordial behavior, even the occasional banter...with chuckles all around .

This cops' disposition however was quiet the opposite...
He hated anyone with a nice car.. waaaay before I rolled by.
But hey... that's probably also my fault because I shouldn't have had the top down... or look like i didn't have a care in the world... or a smile on my face... or a super hot passenger loving every minute of it...

As to the $1100,- bogus tickets, I'm contesting them... the partial blackout tails...OK maybe... but the markers?????seriously I have NEVER heard of anyone getting a ticked for side markers... period!

and $550,- at that... NUTS!
If that behavior isn't the epitome of a "miserable little man", I don't know what is....

I recently got pulled over (very scary) and the highway patrol officer was dead set on framing me with a DUI when I had not drank a sip of alcohol and was instead "rushing" to see my girlfriend going 71 mph! He was such a dbag and so outright bold to accuse me of multiple things, I wish I had a camera to have recorded the entire exchange he would have been in deep trouble had it occurred. But to my fellow 6speeders don't show the officer attitude. I started giving lip after he wrongfully tried accusing me of a DUI and he said well maybe we can tear this little pretty porsche apart until we can find something worth pulling you over for! I nearly shat bricks at this point and stayed very quite it was off the 57/91 interchange for those so.cal folk never speed there.

No worries - I got pulled over downtown in my city at night (returning from dinner) and put both of my hands out the window - the cop said it made him more suspicious. So now I just keep my hands on the wheel.

My buddy who is a cop said he pulled over some LA transplants and when they stopped they tossed the keys out the car window!

Orange Sidemarkers?

My 2010 Carrera 911 has orange sidemarkers.... never EVER thought about changing to clear as an issue... as long as the bulb is orange. I used to drive an M3 and M5 and both had clear sidemarkers... with orange bulbs.

Regarding being pulled over and behavior, hands, etc... I have 28,000 on my 911 and have not been pulled over once. (I do not show a front plate as is required here in Texas.) I'm sure if I ever do get pulled over I'll get at least one ticket for the missing front plate. I hate the thought of punching holes in the nose of my baby!

Not necessarily true these days. In NYC metro area, most police captains in small towns make around $200k/year... I think that's before overtime pay (overtime = kinda bonus?)

In the news, I saw some California police chief made $400k/year? Lifeguards made $200k/year? Their life is not that miserable as you think...

Clearly a classic case of unprofessional Elitism that today's LE is manifesting more and more. Hope you have your attorney jump on this tripe.

As far as the other poster's experience- "Take apart my pretty little Porsche?" Go ahead, and I'll own you after the lawsuit.

Today's municipal vehicle codes are loaded more and more with sections that give officers more options for "probable cause" to pull you over for a looksie. Welcome to the Police State, komrade.

There are still many good folks in LE, but more of these types than before that have no business having a badge that make the others look bad.
