What is this on the dash of the 991?

I keep seeing this little button-type-thing on the 991 dash in different photos. It could be an ambient light sensor but it's a bit big for that. The one on my BMW is a pinhole. It's not a push-button start obviously. As soon as someone clears this up I know I'm gonna feel stupid for opening a thread on it, but what is this:

Let's hope!

Anything but a pop off piece that reveals a screw used to hold the dash on the car. :/

it's temp gauge, used to check interior temp... the new cayene and panamera have it as well. the light sensor is in the cluster...

I would think there would be a less obvious place for that.
