Burmester(R) Audio Package
Basalt Black Metallic
Luxor Beige standard interior ParkAssist (front and rear)
Electric folding exterior mirrors Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) with PASM sport suspension
Sport Exhaust System
Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
Sport Chrono Package
20-inch Carrera Classic wheel
Automatically dimming mirrors
Sport seats
SportDesign steering wheel
$119,910
This will be my first 911. Do I really need the Sport Chrono Package? My dealer told me the 991 already has a sport button standard. I don't need launch control, so I'm wondering if iI could save $2370 to get heated seats or something. The demo I drove today had the package, but the car was fine just on sport mode. Let me know what you guys think. Any other options should I get/get rid of? I'm doing a 2 year lease, but I'll probably keep the car afterwards though. Thanks.

KEEP SPORT CHRONO! Without Sport Chrono you don't get Launch Control. You also don't not get Dynamic engine mounts. Even if you don't care, your eventual buyer will when you try to sell it. Besides the chronograph on the dash visually breaks up the flat dash line. And the chronograph itself is classier looking than it's been in the past.
Get full leather - something I learned today at the official unveiling was that the interior A-Pillars have alcantara on them like the headliner - ONLY if you get full leather - if you don't get full leather you get vinyl A-pillars to match the vinyl dash. This is huge. Besides, stitching on your dash is trick as heck.
BURMESTER IS AMAZING. Bose is satisfactory but if you like music SPOIL YOURSELF!!! it's the only option I didn't get and I regret it after firsthand experience with Burmester tonight. It takes you to places you've never been, sonically speaking. It's like a drug.
Have fun!!

I'd delete Burmester especially if you are getting Sport Exhaust System. You won't hear the fine details of high end audio while driving it.
Instead of any audio upgrades, I'd get Premium Plus (keyless start!!!) or full leather.
Or, for a little more money, get Beolab 9 at home and hook it up with iPod...

I ordered premium plus and didn't know keyless existed. Is it a button somewhere on the dash to fire the ignition?
I have comfort access in my x5 bmw which is a push button start as long as the key is in your pocket. How does it work on the 991?
BTW - the cool thing about the Burmester is the intense spectral clarity at super-high volumes. It's like --freaky good. But either way. Bose is a B, B-.

My Cayenne has "Porsche Entry & Drive", and it's not a button... Dealer will install a plastic thing that sits where you normally insert the key, and you'll be turning it clock wise to start the car. The key should be inside the car to work.
Another neat feature with "Porsche Entry & Drive" is you can fold the exterior mirrors using the button on the door handle. Just hold the door button for 2-3 seconds (after door is locked), and mirrors fold. (I go to Manhattan often and it's useful there)

Thanks guys- that's kinda annoying. Oh well better than fumbling for a key - I've become spoiled with my Comfort access. When I drive my daughters Jeep Rubicon I'm always hating on the key.
I folded the mirrors up on my M3 from time to time - handy. WOW I'd love to tool thru manhattan in a 991. ONCE. Not regularly.

. I don't think I would use launch control ever... What exactly does the dynamic engine mount do?
Trending Topics
Engine mounts on all cars are metal and rubberized fixtures that absorb vibration. Since the engine's inertial forces want to keep the engine going in a straight line while the rest of the car wants to follow your steering path, the DEM's use electromagnetically charged fluid to stiffen up the mount points between the engine and chassis (only for that time when you are cornering) thereby minimizing the effect of inertial engine roll out. It's pretty high tech stuff. Read on:

As mentioned earlier, sport chrono is an absolute must as it sharpens throttle response.
Somethings to consider would be these options:
Wheel center caps with colored Porsche Crest
Smoking package
Porsche Crest on headrests
All these options are all personal and depend on your taste. For me, I wouldn't want to pay six figs for a car and not get color caps. They are standard on a 3 series and I think they are absolutely necessary on any porsche. I like the smoking package because it gives you a lid on the center console. And the Porsche Crest on the headrest is an absolute necessity for me. It makes the car look more elegant imho.
But again, all these options depend on your taste.

1. Don't get folding ext. mirrors or park assist front (rear is all you need and not even a must)
2. Downgrade from burmester.
3. PDCC is certainly overkill on a 991, not required but if money is not a concern it's a cool thing to get. SPASM overkill too considering you get the 10mm lowering as standard now.
Wheel caps really depend on exterior color, with some colors they look cool, but with silver for example I wouldn't get them. With black it's 50/50.
Above are thoughts to save you money w/o compromising. Otherwise you have a great build.

i would go with (the really good) Burmester OR (the thunderous) sport exhaust, not both things if you want to save money.
ask yourself: what´s the priority for my ears while driving, a symphony of Beethoven or a symphony of the flat 6?

To each his own. But to me, I think color caps is an absolute necessity on the carrera line. I feel very strongly about it. In fact, I think it should be a no cost standard option where people have to "delete" or opt out of color crests.
But we all know that Porsche doesn't like to include some of the most basic options. And catchmyshadow nailed it with his little amazing poem. It really depends on your preference.

I do not get the fascination with colored caps. I ordered a platinum silver 991, already have clear side markers waiting for install, and I specifically did not get colored caps so that I didnt break up the exterior color palette. For me, its the same reason why people replace the amber markers, albeit less noticible.
