With options it's always been a user pay experience and if you get 20 cents back in the $ you've done well. The main benefit aside from enhancing your ownership experience is being able to get out of the car ahead of the next car (with say the same/similar color combo as yours) that has less options or,none at all. Choosing a dud color combo which appeals only to the minority market will always cost you and it's here that you need a long list of expensive options to (help) rescue the car as a sale opportunity. The right coloured combo'd car with fewer options will always be worth more than a dud colour car with a lot of options. So, the right colour selection is more important than the option list.

Having the right colour and the right options is the best of both worlds as in that situation you get to enjoy your car and also get more when you sell it. But i think everyone here should know that by now. If your taste in colors is at the bottom of the list for the rest of the used maket then you are going to get punished for your indulgence.

Just a wistful dream thinking about just how cheap that car really is and just how lucky you guys are over there for being able to own a brand new highly spc'd car for such little dollars....in an Aussie sense, given what we pay. So it didn't even cross my mind for a second that the price was in any way exorbitant.
Actually, I didn't think you were responding directly to me (other than the exact number I had used, as well as the exact context it was expressed). I was simply adding to the line of thought that was taking on a path of its own.

Speed 21 , I totally agree with you. I am very particular to a bright color car... unfortunately, cops are too. So I match a good exterior color with a very complementary interior leather / color . My previous 996 was basalt black with a boxter red interior, my current car has a natural leather interior. great looking.

sounds like an amazing car. Is it just me or is it kinda of sad that today's carrera s prices would have gotten you a turbo or gt3 when the 997 was new......

In a way yes and I wish I had the funds back then to take advantage of it. However, you're talking more of a base turbo and not an optioned turbo. With options, you're looking close to $150k anyways. One thing that is a positive is unlike the 3-series BMW, not everyone and their moms will own one of these making it more unique on the road. Here in California, I'm tired of seeing BMWs and MBs congesting the streets. It's nice to see some variety with some nice Porsches on the road.

It came in yesterday and I got it last night. I haven't driven it much yet so I don't have a lot to say. If I could change anything I would have ordered the back of the sport seats in leather. On the configurator it didn't look like it mattered much in a coupe, but was probably a necessity in a cab. It's behind me so I'll get used to it being the only large, grey thing in the cabin.

The items with "0" price are things included in packages.
