SM_ATL's Carrera S Journal
Here's the Rolex that winners got this year (this one is not from GTLM but GTD, but there are all the same
). Last year's looked a bit better with a white dial.

). Last year's looked a bit better with a white dial. Here's a dyno run I had done in Dec with X51 and GIAC. Unfortunately we couldn't find a rev pickup signal, so it was a manual run with speed on the x-axis. 128 mph in 4th gear is only 7000 rpm, so we missed the top power at 7600. Next time. But I like the shape of the curve. I just now put on my modified Fabspeed headers and will do a re-run and hopefully rev a little higher. Also put an induction loop around one of the the ignition coils, hopefully we can get a rev signal next time.
The prototype of an electric 911 is already 112 years old!

I saw this on Jalopnik this morning : http://jalopnik.com/the-following-st...now-1510927172, and it was not far from the truth
This is a pic of my car at 12:30PM

and in the traffic about 20 minutes later:

Shortly after that, the traffic got into a complete stop for several hours. I am sure our friends up North will smile -at the very least-. I safely parked the car and walked a couple of miles to location where my wife picked me up with the family SUV.
It may only snow for two days every other year around Atlanta, but the level of (un)preparation of the local authorities is unbelievable. I understand that snowploughs can not be justified, but just a bit of salt or sand would not be too much to ask. Not to mention that Atlantans are terrible drivers on the snow. Not their fault, they just do not have the opportunity to practice.
Enough rambling. Simple conclusion is: do not rely on the government or local authorities, you are in charge of your own destiny

Serge, your car gets left in a parking lot and gets snow dumped on it because you just had to have your hair done at that salon today!

Well done for navigating the chaos safely.

Dude!!! I was hoping you did not drive your car today. I was stuck in traffic for 8 hours. My A8 was awesome, it also helped that I had a new set of Pilot Sport AS3 (awesome performance on snow and ice for a Z-rated super high performance tire). Glad your baby is ok, mine got me home safely. Gotta love Quattro!

I'll go get my car tomorrow if there is not too much ice. I still have friends who left Buckhead early afternoon and who have not yet reached Alpharetta past midnight

Congrats on the track wheels. Please post pics when you get them. Back to the GIAC tune, you may have already mentioned it, but what happens to the Sport & Sport+ mode? Does the tune simply apply to all 3 modes and do you still have a noticeable difference between standard and sport mode? The question may be silly, but someone mentioned that he lost the sport mode when he got a GIAC tune on his 997.
Good question on the GIAC tune. I meant to ask the folks at GIAC the same question, but not sure I ever did. There clearly is still the same difference in terms of PDK shift speed between the different modes. In Sport+, the idle also still sounds differently. So I *think* they preserved some difference, but can't say if the injection map is truly different. Unless I'm in a traffic jam, I keep in in Sport+, so can't say much about difference in fuel economy

They did tell me that the software version for PDK is different from MT, which would make sense.
Will post pics of the wheels when I get them ... may take a little while though.
Sorry to hear about the snow. Heard from colleagues that it was a total mess. I'm just returning from a work trip to Chile where it was 83 degrees. Called home to Chicago yesterday, and determined that we had a 100 degree difference between the two cities ....

[QUOTE=SM_ATL;4033004]AWE Exhaust 'preview'
I did not have my new microphone this week end, but my kids were busy with a photoshoot of their own cars, so I did a coupe of drive by's just to give an idea of what the AWE exhaust sounds like @ WOT.
Quality of the video is pretty bad and there is too much wind, but I'll have something better next week end...
