SM_ATL's Carrera S Journal
Point well taken Chuck. I replaced the picture by one that better portrays my intent (but I loved soviet era graphic design though)
The goal of this forum is to talk about cars, but I am personally not shocked when people express their views on other topics as long as it is in a humorous manner.
Crazy I never got a comment about the following type of pic though

Sorry, I could not resist (and there is a red car on the picture).

You have probably all seen this already (from last year), but I could not resist:

Awesome. Thank you for sharing. I had not seen it. It gave me chills.
The Rolex should be great. I have friends that drive in it. a couple of years ago I had all access pass. It was was one of the best times of my life.
It is a must attend event.

AWE Tuning SwitchPath exhaust install
Got the exhaust installed this morning. Very quick job with a simple bolt on & good instructions provided. Definitely DIY-able if you wish.

Before:

Nice attention to details at the connection between the headers and the exhaust: the outer hole is larger so that you can attach the exhaust properly and without having to use longer bolts (not sure my explanation is clear enough, check the pics
):

After:

Note the position of the valves (visible on the left side of the pic) keeping the vacuum lines away from the exhaust. This should avoid them from melting:

Finally the exhaust tips... totally kick @ss

As far as the sound itself is concerned, I have not driven the car much yet, but the quiet mode is still quiet and the loud mode sounds better than PSE: louder, higher pitch as rpm increase and nicer sound during upshifts and downshifts. My previous experience with similar systems was that they were too loud to drive around town (or that you could not listen to the radio anymore). It is clearly not the case here, so mission accomplished so far.
I am leaving town for a 600 miles trip over the next 3 days and it will give me a good opportunity to break the system in and test it in various driving conditions. I'll record video's and sound clips when I am back this week end

? You are right indeed, it is all about planning and scheduling business trips up there at the right time (except for the weather maybe).
998M-All access is great. I used to be with Team Rafanelli when we ran the 550 Maranello for Olive Garden/Coca-Cola. As a member of the team with IMSA credentials there was wide open access up to and including the pits except when in hot pit situations. It is the only way to be at a race. Nowadays, however, I have to resign myself to Porsche Corral access

Looks great SM_ATL! And thanks for the update. Can't wait for your driving impressions....
Sitting through a blizzard dropping 10-14" right now, so might be a few more days till i think about driving down to AWE.... I'll have to live viariously through your posts for now!

Ok I know this may sound weird but I was looking at his pics and I lost track of the flow of the exhaust. Now I am not crazy and I thought that the ordinary flow of exhaust is from one side to the other and it comes from the cat to the center and up into the top of the side muffler and out the bottom and then it can hit a valve for PSE or this AWE system. Here is the part I am loosing track, at the point were the valve is is that going to the inner most tip? This AWE system looks like it is bypassing the side mufflers and I don't think that is what it is doing. Am I wrong, or is the system a primary exhaust bypass?
