I was holding out for the new SL550 but my wife suggested that everyone she sees in an SL is 60+ and retired. But the NEW sl is sharp -- my dealer just got one. But by this time I had a chance to drive the 991 and OMG it's ferocious - and luxurious which sealed the deal. Just wish I had gotten Burmester sound.
So I have a $130k 991 on order which will be here next week - there is no other $130k car I would want - that was my car budget as well.

Really? In what way?
I've owned M3 (E46, E92) as well, and my 997.1 is so much more polish and performance is on par or better than E92...

For that kind of money, wait for the 991 C4S.
By the time Fall rolls around, there will be a couple more versions of 991 and you should see more used 991/991S and incentives to give you more options as buyer.

For a weekend driver I think you made the right choice in the GT3 over the 991s. It will also be a unique and much less common car that will likely hold it's value better over time with the end of the Mezger engine and hydraulic steering. The 991 will be much more common. Once you connect with the GT3 it's hard to go back to a more regular 911. But then again I am biased having gone from a 997.1 GT3 to a 997.2 RS to a 4.0 RS. To me the 4.0 is perfection. Did you get a RS or non RS GT3?

Let me throw 1 more car in the mix- jag Xkr-s. I was looking for a lightly used 997TT S, when I came across this jag. Not as fast as the porsche, but it goes pretty good with 550 hp/502 tq. What got me was the looks, exclusivity (100 in USA), the sound (amazing), interior styling, and it has all of the electronics and a kicking 550 watt stereo.
For a weekend car, my other pics would be a gt3, f430, or gallardo. Daily driver-Xkr-s, 997 TT, then 991.
