For kicks, we took one of our brand new 2012 991 Carrera S cars up to PBIR during test and tune night Wednesday to play around and see what kind of 1/4 mile the car would run bone stock.

Someone that was there managed to grab a few videos...

Not yet. It's a personal car that belongs to one of the guys who works at Champion Porsche. It was sort of a last minute "hey you wanna go to test and tune night with the 991....?" sort of thing...lol.

 

I was waiting to see who was going first for a track event with the new line

I know nothing about drag racing. PDK car yes? Is launch control allowed at these things or is that considered cheating?

 

PDK yes - that's the only available tranny on the 991's rightnow. I'm sure he used launch control since it's just a Test and Tune (not a competition).

Probably could have shaved off a tick by lowering the wind.

Yes, the car is PDK. It was just a "test and tune" night so the rules are very relaxed. It's not like normal race days...

 

So it was launch'ed?

Very cool. Any wind? Could you get 11.x on a cooler night after a bit more break in?

 

Not much wind, but it was carrying a little extra weight in the driver's seat...

Let's just say 11.9x would definitely be possible with about 50lbs less of him! lol


BTW trap speeds were pretty consistent too....about 116mph every time.

 

Nice runs. You can hear the car in launch control mode. It is getting little wheel spin so with DRs on the rear I'm sure high 11s are no problem.
