The new 991 C4S!!
Here's one of some video's from the micro C4S site.
I have to say as much as I love the look and feel of the C4S this new one is being presented in a very demure fashion...

Compare to a Ford system... Or look at the Honda voice-to-text integrated into the car.
Not even going to get what is standard on other cars sometimes add up to $40 in options for some Porsche models... It's almost as if, by comparison, you could buy $40k in options, and get a free car.
Bluetooth, audio setups, etc...

I mean, I get it. As long as people are willing to pay for the options, Porsche will continue to offer them and make a tidy profit. I also get that people want to customize their cars with different interior/exterior combinations and not everyone wants the performance wiz-bang parts, but I personally like cars like the GT-R where for the price you pay, you get all the gadgets and performance parts.
Why not simplify - put all the technology/luxury bits on the base model, and then ADD the performance gadgets to the 'S', and call it a day?
My issue is not the different options, like I said, I LOVE the fact that there is a company that can still build a car the way YOU want it, and not somebody else, but rather the COST of these things that should be standard, like they are in MANY other cars (including ones that cost only $20k).
Hehehe spoken like a true photographer, always looking at the angles and proportions.
As a latest generation "top model" who likes having her pic taken the 991 has actually lost a some weight overall and in the waistline (VS the 997).
The C4S just has a bit more curve action going at the fender flares, when ya combine this with the wider front track it really emphasizes the "coke bottle" shake.
Much more Sports Illustrated swimsuit than runway model.
That said, they're both "high maintenance" (not the car of course)!
Cheers!

Agreed. I do like that a car company still offers options, that allow customization. I realize that companies like Honda, Ford, etc... that 'package' options and sell at different trim levels. BUT - there are so many different 911 trim levels to begin with.

I wouldn't want to pay an additional for the tech goodies at the current prices, so forcing me to buy them in a mandatory trim level package would likely make me buy a base car simply because of price.. I like the idea of building exactly what you want. Read somewhere that Porsche I builds 1.7 exact cars per year. So 2 exact copies every 14 months. That's special.
What I'm suggesting is that there are cars that have a lot of these options and still cost around $25k. How does Porsche charge more than $25k for these options?
For example - why is bluetooth even an option anymore?
Dimming mirrors, etc... These should be considered required safety features, not optional items.
You want to reduce fuel costs on a global scale? Put a GPS navi system in every car. If you aren't lost, or can find a shorter way, you reduce fuel consumption. Why is there an additional cost for this? My GPS in my phone is free. You can pick one up for less than $50, usually a better quality than in most cars anyway...
Stereo? Who here thinks that a 500W system is an add-on when a 300W comes standard? Wouldn't it be cheaper for the company just to source and stock one single item? Besides, let's say a 300W system costs $1000 to install, and a 500W system costs $1200 to install - how does a company charge $2k for it, when it was only a $200 upgrade? Wouldn't that $200 increase go away if only one system was in stock, therefor we would purchase greater numbers of that one, cost would go down, the better stereo would be installed at a zero cost option...
Obviously I'm oversimplifying, but I do NOT like marketing such as being able to purchase a PC at Best Buy for $450 that contains a 2GB HDD and 128MB RAM, etc..., only to be offered a 200GB option for $100, and a 500GB for $200, upgrading the RAM to 256 for an additional $40, or 1GB RAM for an addition $200, essentially costing $800+ for a USEABLE computer. Marketing makes it sound like the PC was a good deal, when in fact NOBODY likes the base level. Some can argue and say - I like to personalize the way I want. Cool. But these upgrades do NOT cost what they are asking. If you like it, buy it. I like that a company DOES offer variety. I've just learned to despise the marketing standpoint of - I'm going to offer you a stripped model, advertise at MSRP, make you over pay for every option, under the guise of "customization".
Porsche is not the only offender, I've learned to take a disliking to Lexus' marketing, as well as others.
For others - resale is a *****. You go through all that trouble, and hope that the next individual likes exactly what you want? No thanks.
