It finally arrived! I decided not to test drive the car so the drive back from the dealership was my first. Here are my initial impressions. This car screams high quality and maximum competence. It had an excellent ride but not too compliant. The handling felt fantastic and the Burmester audio left a big smile on my face. I put the car in Sport mode with PSE on and passed a truck. The car sounded ridiculous. It was as if my "normal" sports car was suddenly transformed into a modified track car.

Although I went with the Agate Grey / Pebble Grey interior it did not seem too light to me. For some reason, the Pebble Grey looks lighter in pictures than in real life. It's still fairly light, just not "girly" light. Love it. There is no doubt you are in a special car when you get into it.

I took a few photos at the dealer because I know it didn't happen if you don't have the photos.

I spoke with Porsche Cars North America in Atlanta on Tuesday and again today, and they insist that Cabriolets are not being held.

To be blunt, I believe that they are lying but I don't know why - is it a product rollout for cabriolets in early April, a technical problem or does our Federal government have a safety or environmental issue with this model? I can deal with any of those possibilities, I know Porsche will solve any issue if there is one, but why hide behind the claim that these models are not on hold? Maybe Germans are more subservient than Americans but I doubt it!

Have fun tomorrow and this weekend in Atlantic City.

Newman - what is your first name? Sorry about the release issue. The only reason I can think of is that Q1 sales were great and they were worried about a drop off so if they don't release Cabs until Q2, they can spread things over the year. Just a guess. I doubt they could keep a recall or tech problem silent this long and as they fixed them, they would release them. It is a puzzle? I look forward to getting word from you next week that it is on a truck!
Have a good weekend!
Michael

Thanks and it has to be soon for you as well! Newman and I are going to try to get some of us NY, CT, NJ 991 buyers all waiting over the last month together toward the end of April to see our new rides up close. Stay tuned and I hope you can join us.

OMG Gerenb! What a great ride! That blue is not what I thought - it is so much richer than I expected! And there is nothing girly at all about the interior. But like mine, it is going to take some care! Congrats! Please drive safely, please post more shots, and please stay in touch.

Mike - first name is Newman, often confused as my last name! You may be correct. I was assured by my dealer that it's not any technical issue this evening. Communications could definitely be better, but I am being encouraged to think about April 2 so I'll take that as positive. I am sure that they are hoping for a nice bump with the Cabs - just to keep building momentum for the 991. My dealer seems to be selling cars faster than normal and appear to be pleased with the rollout so far. When the car comes, all will be forgiven or at least forgotten. Really like you color combination,

Newman, glad to hear it is not a tech issue. The dealers don't get paid until the deal is complete and they will not stand for this very long either. I am glad what your people are telling you about April 2 is consistent with what my salesman said. And yours will definitely be worth waiting for. This week was not cab weather anyway!.

Have your dealer do something nice for you for making you wait - extra floor mats are always nice or perhaps a Porsche jacket for when it is just a few degrees to low for the top to be down, but you put it down anyway.
All the best!

OMG THAT LOOKS AWESOME!!! STUNNING man. that was the color I was initially thinking to order then changed to agate grey. I'm so glad that I saw your car before it's too late. I think I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow and change to aqua blue as well.

In the sun it's really amazing. Agate Grey is also a hot color. If possible, you should see them both in person.

Looks like the Carnation Ace is well out of port. All we need now is the port to release some cars!

Well the camellia ace is finally in the Houston port. We will see how long it takes to deliver the car to my dealer.
