prepaid maintenance???

So I'm about to put in my build for a 991 C2 and was shocked to find out that there isn't any free maintenance. I've been driving BMWs and Audis for the last 10 years and every one of them had a free maintenance plan. The BMWs even cover brake pads! The "Porsche prepaid maintenance" seems like a sham. on a 100k car. I have to say, I'm a little bummed.

Porsche has never had "free" maintenance. BMW is the last of the hold outs on this one, and some would argue that it really isn't free. It is built into the price of the car.

Get used to $400 oil changes!

Do they hae a fixed maintenance plan? Audi for example has the "Audi Care" plan that covers service thourgh 45k miles for $800.

I recently saw an ad for prepaid maintenance. I'm not sure, but even that may be something new. Anyone know how much? I haven't seen $400 oil changes. $200 at my local dealership.

Audi dropped this around 05. Yes, BMW includes it but you paid for it. But still nice to not get nickeled and dimed.

The prepaid maintenance plan is not worth it the last time I checked into this, at least that my local dealer haven't setup the structure correctly (Can't speak for the dealers). It's actually more or pretty close to the same price as you would pay normally if you keep up your maintenance throughout the years. I worked at the local dealer here in Pasadena, CA for 4 years and the price of this prepaid maintenance plan just don't make sense.

Porsche MSRP maintenance plan
Plan I: 3 years/30,000 miles $1250-$1800 depending on the model
Plan II: 4 years/40,000 miles $1950-$2700 depending on the model
Plan III 5 years/50,000 miles $2600-$3100 depending on the model

Example
  • 1 year/10,000 mile service $325 for all cars and $425 for 2011 + Cayennes models, 2010 + Panamera models, 991 models
  • 2 year/20,000 mile service $725 for all cars
  • 3 year/30,000 mile service $325 for all cars and $425 for 2011 + Cayennes models, 2010 + Panamera models, 991 models
  • 4 year/40,000 mile service $1325-$2289 depending on if your car is a Turbo or not
  • 2 year brake fluid flush service $230
  • 4 year airbag maintenance $189

You can do the math. Good luck guys, plus I rather perform all the services here at my shop with a way better rate

It is not that bad... $400/year... You get personal service unlike BMW which sells a million cars...

it'll be approx. $400 a year if you garage the car. The price above does not include any wear or tear items, such as brakes, tires, clutch, etc.

Not sure about the brakes or clutch, but tires were never covered by BMW's maintenance plan. Like you said, they are wear and tear. As such they are irrelevant to the OP's query.

Personalized service for $400 sounds illegal in most states other than Nevada...
