Frustration.....what to do?????

Well, my wife's Cayenne S was delivered to my FL dealer this afternoon, ordered on 11/9/11 and completed 1/30/12.

At the same time I ordered a 991S which had a completion date of 1/31/12. So I should have been taking delivery of two new P cars tomorrow evening. How great was that gonna be???

As some of you may know, my 991 was delayed 3 weeks to a 2/21 completion date, then delayed again by an unknown amount due to the Exclusive deviating stitching options I ordered. I loaded up this car with everything but PCCB's. Platinum silver over carrera red, black carpets, silver stitching and belts, custom black mats with carrera red leather trim, PSE, PCCB, SC, PDK, PASM, Burmester.....was/(is?) gonna be sick.

Today I just learned the production date if my car.........4/30!

That takes me into early June for delivery! Arrrgh!

So, my thoughts/options at this time are as follows as I see it:

1. Wait for my car (increasingly painful to do). I get the color and all the options I really want. But I am buying a super loaded '12 with the '13's right around the corner.
2. Wait even longer and place an order for one of the first '13 allocations. Less depreciation hit when/if I sell/trade vs. a '12 model
3. Buy a used/demo 991 now (likely a car that will not have everything that I want to have) that has already taken some depreciation and trade when my order finally comes, or keep the interim car till my '13 order arrives.
4. Buy a 997TTS, which has always excited me. Could I expect a good deal on such a car now that the 991 has been released?
5. Buy a used/demo 991 from somewhere and see where that leads, perhaps towards a 991 GT3 or TT?

I would appreciate some input here. I have been dreaming about my first Porsche hourly for months, and I'm going a bit crazy......I don't want to be rash, but man why does this seem so trying??

Depending on how long you are going to keep the car & what you are currently driving right now... For example, if you are going to trade it in within 2 years then I guess no point of waiting... or if you got a 997.2 that you still enjoy, then I guess you can wait a little longer...

I can't help or offer advice, but it is a perfect place to say "White people problems".

But it does sound like a beautiful build.

Have you checked out this option or is it not an option for you.

And, I think you could find a more responsive dealer.

That is tough. Sounds a lot like my build - Silver with red intrior and black inserts, red floor mats with black leather trim. It seems to have gone off well, so far, I think. Yours will be great when it comes! But when I spoke to the customer specialist about the black inserts, she said it would delay things only 3 days because it was a standard leather used and no special stitching. She said that Porsche acknowledges that custom leather, stitching and painting and similar sorts of changes could cause delays of 70-80 days. You should be all over your dealership for not letting you know that - my dealer did.

It is tough to wait, but at this point, I would wait for a 13 and I would tell the dealer to make it worth your while not to go elsewhere. And if you don't have much down on the wife's car I would not close on it until you get the deal you want.

Just wait for your ride, who knows when production will begin for the '13s, summer may have passed by then. Nothing wrong with settling but getting what you exactly want will be a sweet thing! I would also try another dealer if that is an option.

i personally would take a 997 TTS over any of the current 991's, but if a 991 is what you really want, don't settle for anything else. 100% chance of regrets.

TTS will hold a better resale value in the years to come over a first year production car.go TTS
and wave at the 991 as you fly by.

Now that you have about every possibility advocated by others who don't have to make the choice (including me), what are you going to do? You will be never have more negotiation power than you do right now with the possible loss of two sales and having to sell cars that are so specific to your tastes. But what will you do with all that power?

Hi eagleeye

I were in the same case with you.

I placed my order last August and should get the January production slot. However, the completed date been dealy several times. Finally the dealer found out this week that I have one option "aluminium window frames" which should been deleted since I changed to white exterior. This option won't be ready till June production. I deleted it two days ago and the completion date is 12/April at this moment.

I do not think the Exclusive deviating stitching options you order will be ready shortly. Your newly planned date 4/30 probably will delay furthermore.

All valid points!
Tough call...

Was in the same boat (sorta) here's what I did...
Delayed my 2012 Cayenne (delivery in June) till first 2013 allocation at dealer (delivery August/September) then found out there's a facelift coming in 2014... now have a reserve for the very first allocation of Cayenne 2014 (est. built in Fall 2013).
I know, I'm crazy... but since I've got other cars/SUV's I figured I'd try being patient for once in my life.

The following may be somewhat counter productive but I've got another option for ya re; 991...

Here's what I ended up doing.
Ordered the 2012 991S cab (delivery June... pushed to July... which means August!) by that time the 2013 is in production so why on earth would anyone pay full price for a 2012.
Of course by that time the 991 C4S will be unveiled and first build will be in Dec... since I don't drive the 991 cab during winter it is in storage for 6 months anyway, now I've got a reserve on the first C4S allocation at my dealer.

Still have the 2012 C2S cab on order (back up plan) but yeah... long way to say, option 6. 991 C4S...

Good luck!
