How late can you make a change to your build?

My Build date (991SCab MT blue/blk) is out in April. I wanted to add PSE to my order in early March and I was told by my dealer that effective March 15th my order was locked. Have others had experiences making changes once the order is "locked". What does it mean to have your order locked, and typically how far before production does this occur? I find the process and chronology from order to manufacturing somewhat opaque.

Any Help would be appreciated

My "lock down" date was Feb. 14. However, I was able to get a last change in on the color of leather inserts for the seats after that - but that only happened two days later - it locks in the US but certain items may still be changed if it has not yet locked in Germany - not all items, I assume minor and cosmetic items like mine. But the final, final date was either Feb 16 or Feb 17 and I needed somone higher up than the dealer to make a call to Germany. It also delayed the build by 3 days. Some changes, like contrasting thread, seem to slow things down considerably - I would not be surprised if you could not get that deleted, even after lock down, to speed the date. But that is just a guess. In general, however, if your lock down date was 15 days ago, I would be surprised if you could do anything - the car is probably about to go into actual production.

My car locked on 2/14, started production on 3/3 or 3/4 and finished on 3/5. It went into QC on 3/6 and left QC on 3/8. I was lucky because it managed to catch a ship that was heading for Rhode Island on 3/9. It was officially delivered to the port on 3/22 and I just got a call from my salesman that the truck carrying my 991s just pulled into the parking lot at 2:30 today! I think I caught everything right and that is about as short a build to delivery as you are going to get.

Good luck with yours and congratulations. Don't forget to post what you built and pictures when it comes in in 4-6 weeks!

Thanks, I hope so! Otherwise, it was a lot of waiting for little return. I will post pictures over the weekend.
