FWIW, I had a similar dilemma to you. I have had two boxsters. They were both superb cars, but I decided to move on to a base 911.

I have owned 10 Porsches. Hands down the greatest handling tightest gripping hot shot car i've ever driven was my Porsche spider. It was aggressive, and when I tracked it it sat with glue on the tire patch. I traded it only because I couldn't deal with the top here in the deep south.
Wit the 911 I am always on the edge. With the Boxster I was always in control. I think people who think the Boxster is a chick car are the same folks I used to blow by in my supercharged Honda S2000 sissy car .

The boxster is a great car for what it is. A perfectly balanced, high performance roadster which on many turn heavy tracks can hang with a 911.

But the 911 driving feel is special and can not be matched by the boxster.
