Hello.. I had placed a deposit for a 911 Carrera S on October 2011 and the car was supposed to have been delivered to me on April 15.

Early April the person in charge of ordering the car tells me that the car will be delayed and will be delivered only on June 15! That means a total wait time of about 8-9 months! Is this normal? All the accessories ordered were off the site and every single accessory was ordered keeping the final delivery date in mind and a production date in February. They say the aluminum trim for the windows caused my car to be delayed by 8 weeks and they tell me this on the delivery date..

Just wanted to know if any of you have experienced any thing like this

 

I ordered my car on sept 28, made some changes and my order locked in late october and was promised a delivery in Feb, and the car was in fact in port by late Jan and ready for delivery on Feb 1. This is in Dubai.

But this aluminium trim has been known to cause a delay. Don't mind but a pretty unneccessary option in my opinion.

 

Exactly - I was given a Feb production date because of a brushed steel finish option that was in their system then but it is my understanding that the option was removed. And accordingly I accepted when this was told to me.

My problem is that they never told me about the delay the aluminum trim was causing - if I had known I would have removed that option far earlier. If you got your car by Feb 1 - its pretty clear I was not treated fairly. Im getting mine in June 15 - thats quite a delay in my books..

 

I ordered mine in late November and they just started making it. And I don't think it was pushed back due to options I requested. We're expecting a late May delivery.

Yes, I order mine in 25/August/2011 and should get January build slot. I check with my dealer the end of Feb to see the delivery schedule, however, the build schedule been pending. They check with the ordering department and found out that the aluminum trim for the windows caused the dealy. I have been told the delay will around 8 weeks at that time. I asjed then to check again and please see below reply for your reference from Porsche.
"Option 559 delay is due to manufacturer's supply. At the moment, we have no 991 production done with option 559. Please kindly check VIN of that vehicle and let me know. I will check it in system.

I just delete this option. My car was put in the production on 29/March and is completed and waiting for departure now. However, during the launch party 14/March my sales told me the delay is around 4 months not 11 weeks.

Actually, 8 weeks, 11 weeks, ot 4 months are all estimated. My sales told me it could be shorter and it maybe longer also. If you do not want to wait any longer, you can delete this option and reschedule the production date otherwise I think the expected date gonna delay again.

 

my GT Silver 991 was delayed from an April 7th build date to April 19th to May 7th;

 

Ordered a loaded 991S early Nov. with a 1/31/12 completion date. My first Porsche. Ordered full deviated stitching. Was told my order was delayed 3 weeks, then another 8-10 weeks, pushing delivery into June for a MY 2012.

I said screw that and bought a 997.2 TTS and, literally, there has been no looking back!
