How to Hardwire Radar in 991

Please help, I have a 9500ix and would like to hardwire it. Attached are pics of the passenger side fusebox, and the optional hardwire kit I purchased from Escort. What do I plug in and where? My original intention was to have the dealer do it, but I was quoted $355. Another member Omaha991 suggested I do it myself as it takes "20 minutes"! I don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated and no detail would be too minor (trust me). Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the blend mount. 9500ix needs a clear view of the sky for the satellite functions to work well. If mounted too high up on the windscreen the unit may not have a clear view. I was hoping others here would chime in as I want to be certain I'm using the correct location on the 991 fuse box etc. I looked up a couple of instructional videos on youtube and just want to be certain before I forge ahead. I will likely just go to a local radio installer and get it done.

Just because it's done at the dealer, doesn't guarantee that its done right. Sometimes, things this easy are handled with more care by the owner.

True. Assuming the owner knows how to handle electronics on a complicated vehicle like the new 991. Tapping power from the wrong source can cause a variety of codes popping up and a lot of problems. OP doesn't seem to have that background. Just trying to be helpful, I once tried to do the same and it wasn't a good idea.

I understand what your saying. $355 for 20 minutes work doesn't sit well with me. Trust me I won't compromise to save a few bucks if not doable with a reasonable guarantee of success. That's why I posed the question.

You 'Go' NSD991,,Not a terribly hard job.,I installed the SR-1 Escort on my Boxster and saved a ton of money. I have also hard wired all our family cars (3) also with no problems and I'm planing on starting on the 991 shortly. Good luck with the install and let us know how it comes out.

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I have done the hardwire yet. Please post pics and instructions here when you do yours! Thanks

991 50th Anniversary - Switched Escort 9500ix Hardwire EASY INTALL

Could not have been easier. Note - I used passenger side fuse box "D2" slot for "switched" - You may not be able to use D2 if you have a 4S.

Ran the 9500ix "Smart Wire" from passenger side of rear view mirror to passenger footwell fuse box.

Tucked wire under headliner (w/fingers) and then used a stiff rubber kitchen spatula to tuck wire behind/under weather stripping down to fuse box.

Used "gaps" where interior trim pieces met to make horizontal turns (top of A pillar & right of fusebox). Pop off carpet surrounding passenger fuse box to fish wire to fuse box.

Use the "Fuse Tap" to join Smart Wire. Cut off male end on Smart Wire and crimp into Fuse Tap. Cut off small round ground end on Smart Wire and crimp in a large enough end to fit over Ground Post that's on left side, middle, of fuse box.

Add 10amp fuse to top slot on Fuse Tap.

I used the D2 (all-wheel control) slot to run my 9500ix in a Switched Mode.

Since the 50th Ann. car is 2S in a 4S body the D2 slot is un-used.

I have my Escort SmartRadar hardwired to my rear view mirror. I didn't personally do the install, but watched my buddy do it. He took off the mirror housing and tapped into the wires that connect to the rear view mirror. It took about 30 minutes for the install. Sorry I can't give you any more details than that. I have a fear of wires!
