Sport Chrono with PDK - Worth adding?
As some of you have seen, I have been struggling to decide between a 2013 Boxster S or a base 991. I've decided on the Boxster S and am finalizing my order tomorrow. After my experience with the DCT in my M3, I was going to buy a stick. However after driving a manual 991 and then a PDK 991, I quickly changed my mind. The PDK is much more crisp and sporty than DCT.
What's the consensus here on Sport Chrono with PDK? Is it worth it? MY 997 had it and it was pretty much useless, but with the new active mounts and the Sport Plus mode for PDK, is the option worth its $2,370 cost?

Putting aside resale considerations, what if the car is driven only as a DD and never sees the track? Isn't that technology a waste for the street?
Again you could say a base model with zero options is more than enough for the street.
It's all about personal preferences. And if one decides to forego it I have not issue with that. I am.one who doesn't worry as much about resale value. As my DME scan with attest to.
Yes, sport chrono is a must with pdk, and really a bargain considering it includes DEMs and you also get the much hated or loved wart, which makes the dash interesting. Comparatively, pse is expensive, no bargain, but still worth it for some.
Also, you can use sport+ on the streets some times depending on where you live. Just need to look for the right opportunity and then press the button.
agree with above: sport + is just a different personality for the car.

Agreed - SC is THE must have option with PDK. Added it to my order without a split second of hesitation.

In my experience options add little to resale value. If you add an option, get it because you want it and not because it will add to resale value or you will likely be disappointed.
I would agree with this 99% of the time. But there is so much written about PDK with SC this is the 1% exception to the rule. ( if one cares about resale at all).
Duly noted! I'm adding SC and PSE to the options list. BTW, I drove my C2S locally yesterday for about an hour and when I got into the car I turned the Bose and PSE on. Never heard the Bose until I turned off the engine, and never cared.
Since Porsche has gone out of their way to use the different terminology here, I don't believe they are describing the same technology for each model (e.g. dynamic gear-box mounts != dynamic engine mounts).
Just my read on it...

It's not clear to me that the Boxster S (with the Sport Chrono Package) has dynamic engine mounts. The technical literature uses the wording "dynamic gear-box mounts" for the Boxster spec, whereas it lists "dynamic engine mounts" for the new 911.

I am going to keep Sport Chrono so my build will be:
Racing Yellow/Black Roof
Sport Plus Seats
Full Leather Interior
Infotainment Pkg
Convenience Pkg
PDK
20" Carrera S wheels in Platinum gray matte finish
PASM
Sport Chrono
Smoking Pkg
Embossed headrest crests
Sport Design steering wheel with PDK paddles
I am going to leave out PTV as I have been told it will make little difference in off-track driving.
You are correct - No dynamic engine mounts in the Boxster. It has dynamic transmission mounts.
