I've been viewing your forum as a guest for several months and have appreciated the information and opinions. I considered a number of cars prior to ordering this car - 997 GTS, 997 TT, 997 GT2 & Audi R8 (V10). I will not type the 10 pages that would be required to explain my thinking when trying to decide what to buy - hard decision and still not sure I made the right one. However, I really couldn't have made a bad choice given my options, IMO.


First impressions of the 991S:

• IMO unless you are Porschephile the only noticeable difference in appearance from the 997.2 is in the new tail lights. I test drove a 991 and parked it next to a 997 GTS several months ago and because I knew every change Porsche had made I could see the differences, but I don't think the average person knows/cares.
• I like the new interior styling.
• PSE is incredible - an expensive option for what it does, but worth every penny.
• When pushed the 991S handles differently than the 997.2S. I spent 4-5 hours driving a 997.2S on a track in a variety of situations and spent a decent amount of time with a 991S demo. The 991S can be pushed harder without breaking loose. I assume this is because of the wider track, longer wheelbase and other tech changes Porsche made.
• For my purposes I like the PDK in the 991S (I know it is a sports car, should have MT, etc). The 997.2S I drove was MT, so no comparison to the 7 speed PKD.
• The 991S ride is surprisingly comfortable given the 20" wheels.
• The 991S is a blast to drive in Sport and Sport Plus.
• I immediately turned off auto stop/start - better fuel economy is great, but really??? I'm not a fan of that "feature".
• 14 way seats are great.
• Bose system seems more than adequate (read some bad reviews, but no complaints from me).
• Power Steering Plus -When I ordered my car I included it. Too early to have an opinion on it.

Overall I think they've done a great job with the 991. Sorry for the long post. Here are a few pics (poor quality).

I drove one too and was completely blown away by the 991..

Having said that I still bought a 997.2 for only one reason... It had 4 wheel drive ...

My next car will be a 991 4S...... That I'm sure !

Thanks. The options I was 50/50 on were PDCC and PSE. In the end I ordered the PSE but not the PDCC. If I were ordering the car today, after reading reviews that were not available when I ordered, there is a 85% chance I would add PDCC.

i am still amazed that you can drive this car in sport plus and the PASM doesn't shake every organ in your body.

is it black on black - one shot looks like blue interior?

I'm 100% on PSE, miss it so much on my current 09 S cab. However, I'm not sure about PDCC, but a local dealer has a car with PDCC, so I'm going to test drive tomorrow to see how it feels.
