Hi, I ran into this magazine review; how come Porsche 991S is faster than 458 Italia? and much faster than 997S, not to mention Lamborghini LP560-4. It is the remarkable achievement for Porsche.

Corvette ZR1 = 1.09.7 min
Porsche GT3 (997) = 1.10.4 min
Porsche 991S = 1.10.4 min
Ferrari 458 Italia = 1.10.5 min
Mercedes SLS AMG = 1.10.8 min
Audi R8 5.2 V10 = 1.10.9 min

I am definitley not an expert on this but I have been fortunate to have driven most of these cars on a track including my own GT2. The times must have been attained at different dates with different wheather conditions and maybe a different driver.
From my own driving experiences, I can not see how the 991S can do better on a track then a 458. I can see how it can do as good as a GT3 though and much better then a 997. The GT3 feels better but the 991 really is amazing and you can understand how it can keep up with the GT3 when you drive them back to back.
In the 458, the front tires seemed to have a hard time biting in the turns and I felt less secure pushing it as hard as a 911 or the Scuderia.
By the way, lambo's are not great on the track, they are heavy and lean too much in the corners, when compared to the others on this list. Thats why there are horse races not bull races
.My wife and I both thought my GT2 felt A LOT faster and handled better then the 458 or scud, but my car is modded. Lastly I do not see how the SLS can come anywhere near the 458, that too tells me there was something wrong with that 458 or the day it was tested.
Sorry, I am all over the place with my thoughts.
I'm a big Porsche fan but... I don't read German and haven't seen the article you're quoting but I will caution you from reading too much into this.
For example, were these times all achieved on the same day by the same driver in the same weather conditions? If not, be careful drawing conclusions based on these lap times.
Be that as it may... good on you Porsche.

No, I do not think that 991S is faster than 458 Italia that why I am surprised to see this. I re-check at fastestlap.com and 458 is usually faster than 991S aparting from this particular track however the 991S is a truly fast car on track. 991S did out pace many super cars in many race tracks, it is an amazing acheivement considering the handicap in power. Again, Porsche did a fantastic job with 991S.

Nice find!
what surprises me more is that the Corvette ZR1 is as fast as a GT2.
I mean, lots of HP to be sure but not exactly the best handling ride in the twisties...

I have the actual test reports -- they all appeared in sport auto. The 997S was equipped with PDK and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires (and lightweight bucket seats), he 991S with SportTecno wheels (0.5 in. wider front and rear than the other 991S wheels). Front tires same as on regular 991S wheels, rear tires 305 mm width (as opposed to 295 regular). If you order the SportTecno wheel option in the US you also get the 305 rear tires. 991S tires were standard Pirelli P Zero. 458 tires also were standard issue tires, not cup or corsa tires. The 991S was optioned with heavy 18-way adjustable sport seats with heating and ventilation, rear window wiper and Bose sound system.
