This car makes you a HERO!
The trouble with a car like the 991 is that with all the electronic nannies, it can compensate too much and you can end up developing bad habits.
Here is the video with the GT-R. This was during my second session, when I finally started to figure out the tricky turns 5, 6, 7, 8. I was not nearly as good during this session as I was by the end of the day (even in turns 1-4), which I will post tomorrow. You can see how hard the 700+HP GT-R can pull.

Yep. He's very abrupt on this throttle input, and the fact he can do that means he's not even close to the limits cornering. Also, he needs to use the entire width of the track, especially at corner entry.

There is a lot of truth to what you are saying, but I'm not as "abrupt" as you think. The PDK shifting makes it sound that way. I will say that the PDK even in Sport Plus did not downshift enough sometimes. I noticed it more watching the videos back. Next time I will downshift manually more on certain turns before the apex, so it doesn't shift down while coming out of the turn..
Great first outing. However your competition sucked. Porsche at 3.11 was an old timer. Don't let it go into your head. Use manual shifts - pdk auto got it all wrong. Learn and learn and enjoy that's the main thing. Ps. Don't panic, don't panic? Wtf was that all about?

Agreed on all points. The compensation issue is my biggest concern with the loaded 991, GT-R, etc. It's cool to look like a hero, but not so satisfying if the car gets much of the credit. If 991 GT3 comes standard with these aids, that might prevent me from getting one.
Turn 7 is a triple apex turn with blind entry. You set the car and steer with throttle. It always looks like you are going to go wide off the track, but letting off the throttle hard can get you to spin. He was trying to make sure I didn't do that....
He also said that in turn 3 when my wheels were squeeling.

My best laps
Here is a video of my last session, leading off the "Red" group. My turns were much better, and I was carrying a lot more speed. I still could have gone a little faster and tighter into turn 2, but I think you guys will notice a big improvement compared to the previous videos. I know I have a lot to learn. The whole point of the thread is I'm a total beginner, but with the car doing so much for me, I was able to focus on the marks, go fast, and keep even guys with years of experience from catching me in this last video. If the car can make a total beginner this fast, think what it can do for you guys that actually know what you are doing!!! Next time out, I will focus on downshifting myself more often. I think I will be able to take my eyes off the track enough next time to look at my tachometer....

You can turn traction control off if you don't want the computer to save you... Nobody goes to the track to be the slowest guy there. Guys in 996s, for example, that were getting spanked can blame it on the car, and rightfully so, but it still sucks to have to make excuses....
I don't think you would want to turn off PDCC because, if I understand correctly, that would leave you with essentially de-coupled sway bars.
Yes, I was having a hard time imagining how PDCC could be turned off.
