This car makes you a HERO!
What model 911 am I catching at 9:30 in my last video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRxHd...ature=youtu.be)? Some might argue that is the last "true" 911. But I have no interest in a sports car like that. Body roll unsettles the car. With traditional sway bars, springs, etc., to get the 911 to behave as well as it does with PDCC, it would be very unpleasant as a daily driver. PDCC gives you the best of both worlds. Stop fighting it...

Rcalcanto,
Thanks for the kind words in the PM. I was glad to help and thanks for posting the videos. The car is fantastic and it sounds great. And to take it out so soon after getting it is really neat.
All the best for your future events.
Welcome to your new addiction.

"don't drive your mirror"...man I've been told that a hundred times....
I'm not sure I agree that PDCC is better for a car as a DD..
and a car without PDCC may help a driver have smoother inputs since you will sense when the car is getting unbalanced... just some thoughts
When I started tracking, the key to getting better was getting comfortable looking way ahead and looking with my entire head as opposed to turning just my eyes. It's the first step in getting over tunnel vision, which happens to everyone when they start tracking.
One of the things that helped me greatly was driving slower, but using the slower speed to work on clearly locating all the braking, turn-in, apex and exit points well in advance. Also, noticing details like marks and other landmarks to help you line the car, looking at every flag station, all the while turning your head to look at each thing.
First get comfortable driving to each point, using the full width of the track. That means getting all the way to the berms (and on the berms where they can be used safely). Once you get the visuals of the correct places to be at each point seared into your memory, you can start increasing your pace. You'll eventually develop a rhythm around the track, from which you can slowly improve your speed going into and out of each corner.
Your car sounds fantastic, by the way!

Congrats. Great first day. I have an upcoming DE event I am taking my '07 C4S with manual shift. I am looking forward learning to downshift with H/T, and getting the racing line right and all the other things before I worry about speed. I would much rather be in a slower car without the driving nannies and push it to the limit rather than be in a loaded 991.
Mind u I have an 991 S on order I already opted out of PDCC. I have PDK option still but after watching OPs videos, I am going order the manual for better track enjoyment.

Roll Centers are a complicated thing, and sticky race tires make it even more complicated. Body roll is not always a bad thing either, it builds in more negative camber. You want some body roll on tracks with lots of low speed turns. (watch F1 at Monaco)

I think you made some excellent progress and it really shows in the video's.
For a novice who (had it in auto-mode) you kicked @ss!
In the last clip your apex's where much better and man I heard the tires squealing quiet a lot as you pushed it... or maybe that was coming from the instructor hehehe

Cheers!
It's a little exaggeration, don't hate. The guy is excited about his new car, happens all the time. And yes, race cars and newer cars body roll all the time, even up to the top level of racing (F1). Lifting wheels several inches off the ground in the turns.

Stop being so sensitive...not every one takes my posts as negative as you and a few others seem to do.
the OP and I are friends and I have helped him (a little) get ready for this day.
And he did great for a first day as did his 991.
its not hate...its pointing out over exaggeration...

...) towards the OP's achievements is partly due because it's very likely he'll blow by you even with the lack of experience and in his inferior "nanny gadget 991"... without putting it in the grass.
Nothing wrong with a pad on back...

Anyways, I don't like the idea of an instructor taking a beginner to the advanced group no matter the skill level. I've instructed some really talented beginners and they still have a lot to learn before going to advanced.
I suspect you're cantankerous disposition (I mean encouraging words from a "friend"

I said nothing about nanny gadget 991...someone else wrote that.
I helped the OP with numbers for his car and getting a helmet. I have no issue with people with 991's. I have issues with people like you who look for trouble.
Why don't you smarten up and stick to car talk.
Sid,
feeling your oats...you finally signed a neg rep you gave me. A proud moment in your life...LOL

Another guy here who doesn't read the posts...

It's exciting to see 991's getting onto the track and instilling this amount of confidence in it's drivers.
The OP is clearly excited about doing well (especially for a novice) and having tons of fun in the process... so I'd rather give him an "adda boy" and allow for a degree of poetic license in the description of events rather than calling a statement "ridiculous"...
It's a mater of what you choose to focus on... different folks, different strokes.
edit, just saw your last edited comment... I'm just returning the favor, and yes at least I signed mine! (unlike you)

Personally I think threads like this are great!

Yes..lets change the subject... you got the posts mixed up and so you need to change the subject.
The statement was ridiculous...none of those cars were even leaning, let alone tipping...watch the video and see. Why not point it out...tracking is serious and there is no reason to mince words.
I congratulated him and said he was doing well hitting his marks and even took heat for that.
BTW...you ever been on a track?
I let everyone know I neg repped you....everyone.
Hahaha... something else to get into a pissing contest over?
Zero interest in starting up an actual dialog with you... sorry, we both know that will go no where.
I'll just agree to dis-agree... with almost everything you say and the way you say it.
I'll leave it at that.
