HELP: Need to locate ignition-switched fuse for radar!
Yes, I have read the other threads here about radar installs. None of them mention a definite ignition-switched fuse that I can hard wire my radar to.
I hardwired my 9500ix over the weekend to the passenger fuse box [1st fuse in the 1st row of mini fuses - I think it is the auto wiper/rain sensing function]. It would have seemed to me that this would be an ignition-switched fuse but my detector stays on LONG after I turn off the car and if I leave it overnight, the car seems to have killed that fuse until I unplug the fuse and plug it back in. Weird.
Please help me.

Anyone? My local dealer reports that most of the circuits stay on after the car is switched off. This is something they deal with in the cars on the showroom. Every time a door is opened, the cars ‘cycle’ their onboard systems and this drains the battery over a couple of days. DAMN
Anything on the passenger side? I routed it down there...don't want to have to redo the whole thing if it's possible to avoid it.
Don't remember, I picked drivers side because that's were remote Mute button was going.
There is a full listing for both fuse boxes in the owners manual. I'm sure that at least one would be key operated. I also used a fuse tap (available at your local parts store for $5-6)
fuse tap converts one into two fusible circuits - 10 Amps maximum on added circuit

Spend a couple of bucks on a test light or volt meter. Connect one side to ground (or bare metal) then start testing each of the fuses in the panel with the key turned off and see if you can find one that does not read any power. Turn the key on, make sure power is available, then turn the key off and see if it goes off immediately or takes a few minutes.
Picked-up my 991 CS2 Cab on May 4. The dealer hardwired my Passport 9500iX to the driver’s side fuse box. ignition on radar works -- ignition off radar off. No problems. The hot wire has an inline fuse and the ground is attached right by the fuse box (there is a ground terminal there). They used an open slot at the bottom of the box that seem to be 5 amp circuits. There are a number of 5 amp fuses that are in the bottom row of the fuse box.
You did not specify your vehicle. It would greatly help in figuring out where to tap power for your radar detector. Most people tap the radio fuse but in some newer cars most of these fuses are no longer switches since the devices turn on and off from the communication bus and not through the power line anymore.

This thread should be a sticky one as it did not come up in my search terms V1 and hardwire install. Rennlister gave me a link thank goodness. Still a little hazy on the location of the ground terminal.
