991 Targa - the old school is back!
Sick sick OMG that looks incredible!!! Moving my deposit! Looking at this again - how does this roof work. Looks like a cab type mechanism.

Well you have to think that the wait could be really long for this. I am guessing it will be out in the fall/winter and if you are ok waiting another 8-10 months (potentially) then its an option. I am going to change my deposit from the C4S to this - looks like its going to be amazing.
Pretty sure there will not be a cab mechanism. What you are looking at is cab camo to hide the appearance of the targa design. I guess Porsche is not ready for the world to see it naked yet.

BUT, I must admit that I posted on another forum that the supposed GT3 test mules we've been seeing are actually the C4/C4S test mules with the 991 aerokit, center locks and a rudimentary center exhaust...all to camo the upcoming WB cars. My theory there was that the 'GT3' mule was certainly a WB and it also had the rear reflector strip (covered) and that the C4 is coming well before the GT3. So if I'm correct there, then I'd have to admit that Porsche IS willing to go to creative lengths to camo their test cars.
Wow, would never have realized they would go to these lengths!
Has there ever been a Targa that didn't have the cabriolet lines below the rear window?
Edit: To be accurate, I guess the first Targa was before the cab, but what I mean is that the outline in the back on the Targas resemble a cabriolet more than the Coupe, so I don't find it terribly surprising that this mule has the cabrio rear. I find the cut lines around the outer edges of the roll bar more interesting, as I doubt these would have been cut out of the camo cab cloth unless they had some sort of functionality.

I understand today's requirements for aerodynamics and keeping the parts (windows) the same for cost, but I do think a flat top true to the original Targa would be cooler than this curved one.
As a former OG Targa owner, I sure hope it doesn't come with the Targa "Leak" option. Hopefully they figured out how to stop leaks with the CGT lol Sometimes I didn't know if it was raining harder inside or outside the car when I drove it in the rain. I'm sure it's not an issue and modern technology will have solved that problem lol
I had two Targa's and don't remember ever having a leak from the roof. However once the Cabs came out the Targa never really made sense to me. The removal of the top was manual and you still had half a roof in place. The newer Targa's are really just a large sunroof to me, and they seem to have had some real problems with the roofs. It will be interesting to see whar Porsche really does here.
