That sounds more reasonable. My dealer told me $214, but I haven't had it done yet (recall they said 1 year or 10,000 miles and it hasn't reached that criteria yet)
Surprised your dealer recommends Castrol 5W/40, I thought they were all going with Mobile 1.
BTW I told my dealer my water was a bit low the other day and they said bring it in and they would top it off. I did and they topped off the engine oil also- free.

Dealer says Porsche approved Castrol and that it is a better oil. They did the same thing on my 997. Who knows the real answer? Dealer says they are actually paying more per quart for the Castrol. I figure it has to be at least as good as Mobil 1!
Regardless the 10K recoomendation that modern industry has,
if you want to keep you car you should be doing first oil anywhere at 1500-2500 miles, and after that every 5000 miles (you could stretch it up to 6000 but absolutely no more)
If you track, that can be very very different you will need to measure it every day and once the level 'shrinks' -->oil change regardless.

Service completed. For $622, which included the 10k service and an $80+tax for tire balancing and minus about $10 for my Porsche Club discount (can't even buy an Old Fashion at the bar with that).
Interesting that they are now using 5W-40 Pennzoil Ultra (name sounds like cheap beer).
Oh for those people out there still whining about no feel in the 991 PDCC suspension, I felt that my tires needed balancing but was not sure if it was the alignment or a tire flat spot. Tires are fine now so I guess anyone can feel/communicate with the road just as easily as if they had a 997. So much negative bullsheisse being generated about the 991 on these message boards. Hilarious.
By the way, all four tires had the same remaining tread left after 10k miles. Again the car has PDCC and I've been hitting the throttle a bit with Sport Plus & "now and again" with the launch control.
Anyway, hope this info helps.

It is interesting that different dealers are using different oil and not Mobile 1. Also interesting that 5W-40 is being used instead of 0W-40. Think I will insist on Mobile 1 when I get mine done (and they will probably charge me more). Helpful information - thanks.
They gave me a traditional mobil1 quart with Velcro attached sac ...it's interesting to understand why they'd move away from mobil1 to castrol? Well I guess I'll find out ...350 miles to go getting to 2K...
Just got my 991 back from the dealer "The Porsche Authority". The did the 10,000 mile or 1st year service and two open campaigns. They gave me a new Cayane S as a loaner. They provide it for P.C.A. members at no cost. Had it for 3 days. Nice car but I missed my 911. Couldn't be happier with the folks at Brumos or the service that they provide. The cost was $311.
Anyone know a good place in the sf Bay Area that will have a reasonable price? Even 300 seems high given what needs to happen for the 10k service. It's about 15 minutes of effort, not including the oil change.
