991 First Service
read the manual, 10k miles is first oil change.
if you do before that, your just being premature... why would the manufacturer suggest something that would hurt the vehicle.. if anything they would suggest you come sooner to get your money.
cars have changed, fluids have changed, trust Porsche...
if you track the vehicle, obviously thats more wear and tear and you can go off the other schedule for hard use... here in florida we are suggested to go off that schedule as well because of the climate.

I'm doing my first oil change at 3,000KM (~1,800mi). I've done a fair of hard driving keeping it just under the recommended limits. I'll be doing a fair bit of track days, so i'll probably do more frequent fluid changes - brake and oil every 8,000KM or 5,000mi).
I too expect an early oil change and a 5000 mile interval thereafter. While I can't imagine that Porsche would counsel any practice detrimental to engine life, a shorter period couldnt hurt. My 89 Volvo 240 went 250k and was still running strong after 20 years, the 1994 960 Volvo didn't burn a drop of oil when i sold that dog at 175k, my 2004 Prius has 114k on it and is just fine. Used synthetic oil in all of those cars with4k change intervals. I will probably never know if my 911 will last longer with a shorter change interval, but I will feel better about it.

Mine was about $375.
In 1985 I bought a Ferrari Testarossa. I loved the look and feel of the car so much that I used it as a daily driver. I put 15K miles on it the first year. My first major service (the dealer had never done a 15K service on a Testarossa) was a shocker. It was $7,800. On that car, they had to drop the engine to do the valve adjustment and change the belts. After that, no service has really every thrown me.
Yes it was...My dealership believes in actually NOT trying to extort every last cent from thier customers.

Ten thousand awesomely fun miles traveled!
