Update
Got my car back this morning! It was the pressure relief valve at the expansion tank. It's similar to the 997 valve but where the 997 valve is integrated into the tank, this is a separate valve that sits next to the tank. The tech said the valve was not holding pressure at all so something just let go. All warranty parts have to go back to Porsche so hopefully they will figure out what caused this potentially serious issue.

Boy was it good to get my car back!!!

Good news chuck. Glad it's all sorted...bet it wasn't too hard giving that Passat back!

Nope, that thing was a real tank. We have a hybrid Ford Fusion which drives much nicer (and gets 40 MPG).
