Aircon Recall
Aircon Recall
Just dropped off my 991 CS to have something changed in the a/c. Came up as a recall when I was at the dealer getting a puncture fixed. Not sure if it's worldwide of just some cars.
So far on some 2012 991's there are 4 recalls, or as Porsche and the dealers like to call them; campaigns. They don't seem very concerned that they contact you about them, so check yourself to get the correct information. Call PCNA; 800-7677243, give them your VIN and ask for "open campaigns" on your car.
#AC02-This first one is the worst and is truly a safety recall. I have verified that my car was sold to me without this repair being done first, long after this problem was announced last March (I bought the car 4 weeks ago). There are 2 fuel lines, a line going from the tank and a return line. These lines may be too long or improperly installed causing them to rub together, which could cause a leak. If they are rubbing and start to leak, the car might suddenly stop running. Not good, could cause an accident. Even worse: it could cause an engine fire!
#WC28-On some 991's a connection or line might leak rendering your A/C inoperable.
#WC27-PDK reprogram, I have found no explanation of this anywhere, and my dealer's service writer really didn't have a clue, just spoke nonsense about other models having PDK's reprogrammed. He didn't even offer to try to find out why it was being reprogrammed.
#WC25-Body seal, supposedly a rubber hole plug may not be installed properly allowing water to enter inside the car, at least in the trunk and possibly the passenger area too.
Like I said: don't expect your dealer to do the right thing, check into this yourself. You can also spend 10 bucks and have Suncoast run your VIN. Along with open campaigns there is a lot of other interesting information. I always order one when I buy a new Porsche. I never had something like this occur before with any car, so I am pretty upset about the fuel line thing. Since I was buying a new car I did not purchase a CarFax, it shows up on there also.

Took it in for a puncture repair and they said their was a factory campaign out on it.
Have noticed no difference after initial replacement of lines, still works well!
Supposedly with the A/C problem, you either have it quickly or not at all.
We should just use this as an "Early 991" thread, maybe the mods could take the posts and start an early 991 thread with the current posts?
Or; maybe DR.Ortho you could just rename the title of your first post, if possible?

Personally, mine works better than any Porsche I've had. My last two 997s had tinted windows and worked satisfactorily but I still knew it was summer. One was grey and one was silver. The 991 is a darker silver than the 2009 and I haven't tinted the windows Now, instead of having to keep the temp at 73 all summer I have it set at 75 and it's comfortable. I sure hope it continues.

Same campaigns on my car when I called the service advisor at my dealer. He said there's actually 3-4 campaigns on my 991 S cab with build date 2/92. I will take my car in on Monday since he said the Air conditioning fix is calling for 6 labor hours.
