Maybe it's bad sound, but it sounds like he is sniffing excessively, like he has a cold or allergy.
He fidgets, looks around and out the side windows and adjusts his helmet, helmet straps, glasses and seating position so much he puts me in mind of an obsessive baseball batter between pitches.
Obsessive and sick or not, he does get the job done!

Mtony, sorry I was referring to Psycho Sid whom apparently was questioning Timos prelap routine, that anyone that goes to a track knows they need to heat up their tires, breaks before going ***** out, yet now all of a sudden Psycho Sid is an expert at driving at the track but has no clue you have to heat up your brakes and tires and mentally prepare and gauge the driver of what the car is capable of.
The 991 is a beast!!!! The GT series is going to be insane. People are going to be going too fast to worry about if there is a Mezger in the back or not. The 991 is going to put the 911 back on top of the racing world again and everything in between.
Anyone know what tires it was on?

Yes a base Carrera.

Alright I'll bite...
OK so you are saying (jokingly of course) anything less than a GT3 or Turbo is a base... wow could you be anymore condescending towards the 991's produced so far... and then attacking someone who's stating that this driver (OP video) has a sloppy style.... to achieve what?
Show your superior intellect... knowledge of racing, your superior 996 Turbo ( with it's decade old old technology)... or just to provoke and get into a pissing contest!
What... you think I (or anyone else on here for that matter) doesn't know about tire, brake, engine/oil/component warm up?
The point to my statement was... if someone who's so fidgety and erratic while being all over the place AFTER WARM UP (and no this does not fall under "using the whole track") is able to get a time this good then what would it be like if someone with an aggressive but smooth style was to try this... probably even better.
To illustrate this "style" difference I posted 2 video's.
There clearly is a HUGE difference... and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with warm up!
Now let me address your expertise and the way you choose to "share" that with us/me...
Most individuals whom are true experts at a discipline or art-form have a firm but pleasant/simpatico and confident disposition, they will correct (or rather share) their experience (acquired from a particular skill set or talent) with others in an effort to elevate those whom are benefiting from said knowledge... however said expert recognizes this also gives him the confidence to accept that "knowledge/expertise" is fluid and in constant state of flux"...
It's always the "little man" whom is aggressive, condescending and rude which has to elevate himself by putting others down... while trying to convince everyone around him of what a big man he really is.
Now if you want to continue this pissing contest I suggest you turn into the wind because my interaction with you has come to an end.

The 1st one is with Sebastian Asch, the 2nd with Timo Kluck.
To have an "apples to apples" comparison both are piloting GT3 cup cars.
You'll see the difference in styles is very evident and honestly you'd expect the "young hot shot" Asch to suffer from the benefit of experience and be less smooth and more easily distracted... seems it's the opposite Asch is fast, smooth and super focused, no funky shifts, turn-ins, slides or erratic throttle input... just pure SPEED!

Like I said Timo Kluck's time in the 991 is amazing to be sure!
But it makes one think what time drivers like Sebastian Asch or Sean Edwards would be able to set in the 991.
Anyway it's grow men arguing about nothing really, not like it's going to make a difference in anyones life LOL.
Enjoy the clips!
1. Get a feel of how the car operates on the track
2. Warm up the tires and brakes
My gut feeling is this is his driving technique.
ChuckJ
Timo is not driving a cup car. Either GT3 or GT3 RS.
Yeah, and he sure doesn't like to rev match. Seems even from this video of the gt3 with the same driver that the 991 is far more composed than the 997 chassis.
Can't wait for the turbo version. I'm going to own many people with that. That's if they make a manual one.
