Both great colors, but my favorite is GT Silver. . . . if budget allows.

Agate was actually my initial order. Then I saw it in person and at it looked too dull a grey. Maybe it was the light at the time but the color really looked flat dark grey. Almost sort of dirty grey. I immediately changed the order to platinum silver. Sorry for saying it. As I said I did like it on and configurator.

What I would suggest to the OP and others facing the same dilemma is to see both these colours on a 991 in different lighting conditions then decide.

 

At night and with cloudy sky's I like both, but in direct sun there is too much gold in platinum and too much brown in agate. Gold and brown are two colors I never want anywhere near my cars paint. A bit annoyed about the cost, but I am going for gt silver instead. It looks great in all lighting conditions.

 

I agree about the gold hue, I also considered GT silver, looks fantastic under the sun, but blueish/grey at night and in a cloudy day, not my favorite either.
I would love to see this car in Artic silver.

 

Agate Grey for me, it's such a unique color.

 

I liked agate for longest time too and wanted carrera red interior.

Wife vetoed carrera red.

Slowly coming to same conclusion you did.

Nearing final build on rhodium silver two tone black/platinum grey interior carrera s.

Both agate and silver reflect light and show curves in the rear of car.

However silver looks good in all conditions.

As it gets darker the agate turns to dirty brown silver or black.

I also confirmed this at dealer in person.
