Seats in the 991

Hey everyone. Been lurking for a few months considering a 991. I had a quick question.

Do all the seat options have identical side bolsters? I sat in a 991 with base sport seats (manual adjustment forward and aft) and notice the bolsters up high on the seat make it uncomfortable. I have a wide shoulder area . I was wondering if the 14 or 18 way are any more comfortable?

Seat cushion and back side bolsters are adjustable on 18-way. Can't say if they will go flat enough for you though.

All depends on what seats you are talking about....

There are base "sport seats",....least aggressive bolsters, minimal power
Then 14-way Power sport seats,....same as above, but with more power.

Then Sport seats plus,.....more aggressive bolsters all the way around, minimal power.
Then 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats Plus,....same as above but with mega power adjustments.

So if you sat in a regular "sport seat", that has the least aggressive bolsters, you might want to try the power version to see if it helps any, but I don't think so.

Any of the sport seats plus will have way more aggressive bolsters with an extra bolster bulge at the shoulders. The 18-way may offer some adjustments here, but I'm not sure enough for what you are looking for.

Bottom line,....try as many as you can and see if one works.

I have a friend ordering a 991 4S and he can not get the 18-Way Seats because they don't fit him properly. He is too broad shouldered.

When I ordered my car, my sales person told me larger/broader people typically can't fit comfortably in the more heavily bolstered seats (18-Way).

The good news is the Standard Seats (w/ 14-Way adjusments) are still Very Sporty and Supportive.

The 18-way sets are the way to go, it's like driving in a recliner. Very comfortable!

I strongly suggest to head over to the dealership and try out the seats for yourself.
A lot of people have issues with the 18-way seats, as their shoulders just don't fit in.

You don't want to make an uncomfortable mistake...

I just ordered a 991S Cab. Had a two day drive in a 991S in Germany with the normal Sport seats and found them ok (I'm 5"10 and 250lbs). Had the question on which seats to get so I went to the dealer and tried (?) them all on. Found the 18 way was the answer. The thigh bolsters are adjustable. the whole seat was much more comfortable and no issue getting in and out (the sales person thought the 14 way would fit me better but turned out wrong). In my 996 TT Cab I have Recaro Sport seats and really enjoy them also.

I have the regular 14 way power seats and I have broad shoulders (5'10" 200 lbs)and am very comfortable for long periods of time in my 991.

I do remember sitting in a 997 with sport seats and finding them too confining for me in the shoulder department.

Also as a note

-the regular power seats in my 997.1 were comfortable in the shoulder area
- The C Class AMG seat I find too confining
