Bose v/s Burmester for cab

I am working on a build and can't make up my mind on the stereo. I've read many comments here on how good the Burmester is, which is why I'm leaning that way. However my reasons for getting it are because I'm looking to get cab. I had a 997 (non cab) with a base stereo and found the stereo to be quite poor. So with this car I want a much better system, especially for when driving with the top down. So for those of you with a cab. Which system did you choose, and are you happy with your decision? So far I have tested a cab with Burmester but not one with Bose so I don't have first hand experience hearing the difference.

I don't have a Cab, but by the tone of your post, IMO, you better go with Burmester. You won't be happy if you don't and will always wonder and wish you should have. I do have Burmester in my 991 and it is INCREDIBLE!! Best car audio system I have ever had. Just my 2 Cents.

I have a cab with Bose and have nothing to compare it to but I figured with the top down and so much outside noise including the cars exhaust, I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the clarity of the Burmester. Would have opted for it had I gotten the coupe.

It's an expensive option and if I had the coin I think I would get it (specially after all the rave reviews) but I personally, had to draw the line somewhere and it just so happened to be this.

Interesting you mention the outside noise being the reason to NOT get it as that was the main reason I was thinking of getting it. You make a good point though that I had not considered. I will say that the test drive I took with it in a cab was pretty incredible. I wish they had a cab with Bose to test.

Being a Cab with a top that when closed allows for more noise, I would definitely recommend the Burm.

Bose

as far as aural satisfaction goes make sure you get the pse. I have the Bose and it is fine. IMO the burmeister setup is exceptional but superfluous.

I think it depends if the Burmester primarily produces more dynamic/powerful audio or just more precise/high fidelity audio. With the top down you need dynamic/powerful audio, as well as precision, to a point (especially the ability to retain fidelity at high volume levels). However, a certain amount of fidelity will be lost with the top down, and if that is Burmester's primary attribute, I think it will be a waste for the money. I haven't heard the Burmester but I can tell you that for someone who listens to virtually all genres of music (and many of them loud), I have not been left wanting with the Bose system in my cab.

At some point you have to get off the merry-go-round with the 911 option list...

I think for the Cab go with the Bose due to the external noise, my 997.2 had the Bose, and it was more than adequate.

I just noted to give you my 2 cents.
I am not a true audiophile, but I personally feel that the Burmeister is a waste in a cab with the roof down. In my '09 cab, with the top down and wind deflector driving greater than 60 mph I hardly heard the music. I had the Bose in the cab. In my '13 coupe order, I am torn between Bose and Burmeister, but I have set the highest price I would like to pay for my 991s at $130,000 and I want a couple of performance items that Burmeister may be too much of a luxury.

Top down at 70+ mph, I reach the volume limit on the Bose system sometimes...don't know that Burmester would actually help that though...maybe.

I will say that the Bose in the 991 sounds a lot better than the Bose in the 997.2 however.

Nicoli, your comment is my major concern. I don't want to have to crank it all the way up just to be able to hear it when im on the highway and top down. I'd like it to sound good at speed with the top down and no distortion due to it being at 100%. I'd think with the extra power coming out of the B it would compensate where the Bose my not.
Sounds like I'm still leaning towards the B, was just hoping to save a little money on the stereo and put it elsewhere. Oh well back to the build again for the umpteenth time to try different configs!!! There are worse things to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon!

I have cab 911s with pdk and Bose and am happy with it. On the freeway I'm usually cruising in non-sport mode so the external noise is cut down and the Bose is just fine. With top down and in sport mode I don't listen to music so much anyway so Bose is fine then too.
